Barnes brings on Brian Yale and Meredith Schamun as assistant coaches
NEW ORLEANS - New Tulane volleyball head coach Jim Barnes has finalized his coaching staff with the hirings of Brian Yale and Meredith Schamun as assistant coaches to the indoor program on Wednesday.
Yale will also hold the title of recruiting coordinator. In addition to the coaching hires, Barnes will retain Amy Grabiec as the director of operations. Eric Beyer will serve as the program coordinator and Wayne Holly, who assisted with the indoor program, will continue as the program's beach volleyball head coach.
"We have a very talented coaching staff assembled that will make a major impact on our program," stated Barnes. "Coach Holly, as our head beach coach, is a tremendous leader and will continue to build that program into an elite contender now as his sole responsibility.ย
"Amy and Eric have helped us hit the ground running and provide great assistance.ย ย I'm privileged to be able to lead this program with such great people of character and work ethic.ย This is a new era for Tulane athletics and Tulane volleyball and we are thankful to be a part of the Tulane Nation."
Yale and Schamun bring with them a rich history of collegiate volleyball, as both have been a part of successful programs in the past.
Yale comes to Tulane after having served as an assistant coach with the Clemson Tigers in 2015. Prior to that, Yale was the head coach at the University of Texas-Pan American from 2011-14 and an assistant at Stephen F. Austin from 2005-10. From 1995-2005, Yale was the head coach at Genoa High School in Genoa, Ohio.
