NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane women's basketball team (5-3) looks to get back into the win column this Sunday when they head up I-10 to renew its in-state rivalry with the LSU Tigers (6-2). Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. CT inside the Maravich Center, as the game will stream live on SEC Network+. Tulane has won five of the past six match-ups between the two, and have won the last three in Baton Rouge. Also important to note, LSU only allows clear bags into the arena as part of their 'Geaux Clear' policy, which states only clear tote bags smaller than 12" x 6" x 12" are to be permitted. SERIES HISTORY - LSU
• Sunday marks the 38th all-time meeting between the two in-state programs. The series dates back to Feb. of 1976.
• LSU leads the series 29-8, but Tulane has won five of the past six match-ups.
• In fact, seven of the past eight match-ups have been decided by eight points or less. Tulane's last five wins in the series have been won by an average of 3.2 points.
• Tulane boasts a 4-16 record in Baton Rouge but have won the last three inside the Maravich Center.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
• LSU is off to a 6-2 start, with their lone losses coming at the hands of UConn (76-53) and Kansas State (69-54). The Tigers have won two straight, claiming wins vs NC State and most recently, TCU.
• LSU is averaging 64.2 ppg on 43.4 percent shooting. Yet, the Tigers are just shooting 20.0 percent from three-point range.
• Raigyne Moncrief leads the squad with 12.9 ppg on 41.6 percent shooting. Chloe Jackson follows suit with 11.6 ppg, also leading the team in rebounding with her 6.0 boards per game. Lastly, Alexis Hyder averages double-figures with her 10.7 ppg.
• Head coach Nikki Fargas is one win away from her 100th at LSU.
MORE FROM MORGAN
Just two days after being held scoreless by Middle Tennessee for the first time of her career, Morgan erupted with a career high 34 points at Vanderbilt on Dec. 5. Morgan made eight of her first 11 shots, before setting a new career high in made field goals at 14-of-26 for the night. The junior also tied her career best of five made three-pointers, finishing 5-of-9 from beyond the arc. Morgan's 34 points were just two points shy of cracking Tulane's all-time single-game top-10 list.
CLIMBING THE ALL-TIME CHARTS
Morgan, who became the first player in program history to surpass 1,000 career points in her first two seasons, now sits at 1,146 career points, which ranks 15th all-time. Next up is No. 14 Sherri Fuqua at 1,189 points followed by No. 13 Teana McKiver at 1,204 points.
In addition, Vorpahl's 417 career assists ranks sixth all-time in program history. Next up is No. 5 Sarah Goree at 418 career assists, followed by No. 4 Susan Owens with 429 assists.
WYATT RIOT ON THE BOARDS
After garnering just four rebounds through the first three games, Wyatt has since raised her rebounding average from 1.3 to 5.1. In the last five games, Wyatt has garnered at least six rebounds in each, averaging 7.4 boards in that span. In addition, the sophomore recorded her first double-digit rebounding performance of the season at Vanderbilt on Dec. 5, nearly earning a double-double with eight points and 10 rebounds.
HALTING THE SKID
Tulane, who has dropped two straight, has done well over the past couple of seasons in avoiding three-game losing streaks. In fact, the last time Tulane had lost three or more in a row dates back to the end of the 2013-14 season, when they dropped their final four contests.
AN EYE ON THE RPI
The road ahead will certainly be a grind for the Tulane Green Wave as their next four opponents all rank inside the top-65 in RPI. In fact, Tulane's next nine opponents all rank within the RPI top-100.
