NEW ORLEANS - The (-/RV) Tulane women's basketball team (14-7, 5-3) will conclude its January road gauntlet in Houston (8-13, 1-7) on Tuesday night, when they challenge the Cougars at 7 p.m. CT. The match-up marks the Green Wave's sixth road game in eight conference games to begin league play. The Olive and Blue have won two straight and are coming off a momentous overtime victory at Cincinnati this past Saturday.Â
LAST TIME OUTÂ
• The Green Wave stormed back in dramatic fashion this past Saturday in Cincinnati. Down 12 in the third quarter, Tulane tied it to kick-off the fourth, then rallied again down five with 24 seconds to go to force overtime, where they won it, 74-68.
• The Wave ended the third quarter on an 11-0 run to tie it at 48-all. Later, down five, Morgan hit a three-pointer with 24 seconds left before earning a steal and dishing to Harding for the game-tying lay-up with 11 seconds left to tie the game at 61.Â
• Morgan scored all 12 of Tulane's points in the first quarter. Scored 10 of the team's 13 points in the fourth. Tacked on six more in overtime to record a career high 35-point day. Morgan also registered her first double-double on the season, securing a career high 12 rebounds.
SERIES HISTORY - HOUSTON
• Tuesday marks the 41st meeting between the two programs as the Green Wave lead the series, 27-13.Â
• The Wave have won six straight against the Cougars and 10 of the last 11.Â
• Last year at Hofheinz Pavilion, Tulane won 59-56 behind a 20-point effort from Morgan.Â
SCOUTING THE COUGARS
• Houston enters with an 8-13 overall record and 1-7 mark in American play. After defeating Tulsa 71-66 to begin league play, the Cougars have since lost six straight.  Â
• Freshman guard Jasmyne Harris is the lone Houston player averaging double-figures at 11.1 ppg on 41.8 percent shooting. Harris is also the Cougars best three-point shooter, converting 36.7 percent of her shots.Â
• Sophomore guard Serithia Hawkins leads the rebounding effort at 7.3 rebounds per game to go along with her 7.4 ppg.Â
• Houston has taken 70 more three attempts than Tulane as the Cougars average 20.6 attempts per game.Â
CAREER DAY FOR MORGAN
Morgan recorded a career day at Cincinnati on Jan. 28, producing her first double-double on the season by achieving career highs in points (35) and rebounds (12). Morgan scored all 12 of Tulane's points in the first quarter, then 10 of the Wave's 13 points in the fourth, including a crucial three with 21 seconds left. Morgan then tacked on six more points in overtime, where she also tied her career high in made field goals (14).
CLOSE MARGIN WINS
After Tulane's 74-68 overtime win at Cincinnati on Jan. 28, the Wave improved to 5-2 in games decided by 10-points or less.Â
THE MORGAN TRAIL
Morgan is on the best streak of her career, recording six straight games of 20+ points. In that span, the junior has averaged 23.8 points on 46.1 percent shooting in that span. Morgan is now up to 13 total 20+ performances this season after producing 13 total last season.Â
In addition, Morgan has achieved 14 straight games with double-digit points, which bests her previous high of 13 set last season. The streak started just two days after being held scoreless for the first time of her career at Middle Tennessee where she collected her first 30+ point effort with 34 points on 14 made field goals at Vanderbilt on Dec. 5. Â
EYE ON THE RPI // BRACKETOLOGY
According to NCAA RPI rankings, Tulane sat at No. 106 as of Dec. 12. After a season high five-game win streak and notable wins over NC State and Auburn, the Green Wave jumped all the way up to No. 35.
After a 5-3 start to American play, Tulane still sits at No. 36.Â
According to Real Time RPI on Jan. 30, Tulane's strength of schedule ranked No. 39 in the country.
The Wave have squared off against 10 teams inside the current RPI Top-100, in which Tulane boasts a 4-6 record.
Lastly, in the latest ESPN Bracketology on Jan. 30, Tulane was part of the 'last four in' as a No. 9 seed.Â
