SERIES HISTORY - ALABAMA
• Tulane trails the all-time series vs Alabama, 4-7, but have earned all four of the wins in the past five match-ups.
• The Green Wave are 1-3 in Tuscaloosa. Tulane picked up a 64-56 win in November of 2007, the last time they were in Tuscaloosa.
• The two met in the first round of the WNIT last year in New Orleans, where the Wave advanced via a 53-52 final.
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON TIDE
• Alabama enters with a 21-13 record and finished in 11th place in the SEC with a 5-11 mark. The Crimson Tide made a run in the SEC Tournament, defeating both Vanderbilt and Tennessee, before falling 65-55 to Kentucky in the quarterfinal round.
• In the first round of the WNIT, Alabama defeated Mercer, 81-57. Bama then followed that up with a narrow 55-53 last-second put-back jumper win over Little Rock at home in the second round.
• Hannah Cook and Meoshonti Knight pace the offense, averaging 11.3 and 11.0 ppg, respectively.
• Alabama excels at getting to the free-throw line, ranking 4th in the nation in attempts (763) and 13th in makes (501).
• Alabama also crashes the boards well, ranking 39th in the country with their 41.53 rebounds per game.
• Defensively, Ashley Knight ranks 23rd in the nation with her 2.47 blocks per game.
WE MEET AGAIN
In the first round of last year's WNIT, Tulane defeated Alabama, 53-52, in New Orleans. The Green Wave led for over 32 minutes but Alabama claimed a 52-51 lead off of a Quanetria Bolton lay-up with just 30 seconds remaining. Coming off of a timeout, Morgan drove to the basket, was fouled, then converted both her free-throws to bring the score to its final of 53-52.
Morgan was the lone Tulane player in double-figures, securing a game-high 19 points, which included a 9-for-9 night from the charity stripe. Meanwhile, the Crimson Tide return three girls who earned double-figures that night in Hannah Cook (11 pts), Meoshonti Knight (10 pts) and Quanetria Bolton (12 pts).
WNIT HISTORY
Tulane is making its seventh appearance in the WNIT, where they are 9-6 overall. Last season, the Wave tied its longest run in the WNIT by reaching the third round after victories over Alabama and Georgia Tech.
8 STRAIGHT POSTSEASONS
Tulane's WNIT bid marks the eighth straight year for postseason play. The Wave made the NCAA Tournament in 2010, which kick-started the eight year run. The Olive and Blue reached the Big Dance again in 2015, and has made the WNIT every other year.
DISHING DIMES FOR ALL-TIME
In the second round WNIT game vs Grambling, Vorpahl's eight assists pushed her season total to 197, which not only surpassed her 189 total from last year, but also ranks third all-time. Now, Vorpahl is chasing after the top-two spots:
1. Jamie Kaplan - 209
2. Ashley Langford - 207
LATHAM'S LONGEVITY
When Courtnie Latham takes to the court vs Alabama in the third round of the WNIT, it will mark the senior's 132nd career game. That number will give Latham sole second place in program history for most games played. The top spot belongs to Olivia Grayson at 134.
DYNAMIC DUO FROM DEEP
Both Morgan (2.3 / .381) and Vorpahl (2.0 / .410) ranked in the top-6 in conference play in both three-pointers per game and three-point shooting percentage. In fact, Vorpahl's 41.0 percent accuracy from beyond the arc led The American. Together, the duo have been the driving force behind Tulane's 188 made three's, which ranks as the second most in program history for a single season, only behind the 2009-10 squad's 200.
Individually, Morgan's 75 three's this season and her .408 three-point percentage rank fourth all-time at Tulane. Over the last four games, Morgan has shot better from three (.591) than from two (.571), raising her threepoint shooting percentage from .383 to its current .408, which ranks 29th in the country.
Vorpahl measures up on the career side, where her 192 total three's is currently chasing No. 3 Nikki Luckhurt's 193 three's. Furthermore, Vorpahl is flirting with the top-spot in career three-point shooting percentage. The senior has knocked down 36.8 percent from deep and is right behind Christy Thomaskutty's 37.9 percent.
