Tulane Sailing Finishes Challenging Women's Showcase Final
Oct 14, 2018 | Sailing
BOSTON – The Tulane sailing team finished competition on the Charles River on Sunday, earning a 17th-place finish in the Women's Showcase Final.
"Today's conditions were very similar to what we had yesterday, an unstable and shifty wind that kept everyone on their toes," head coach Charles Higgins. "Both our A and B Division boats had a difficult time, but I'm proud of how these girls continued to work hard and never gave up. They're eager to improve and get back out on the water."
Sophomore Katherine Byrnes, freshman Amelia Schofield and senior Sophie Ricker teamed up to complete the remaining eight Division A races, finishing in 18th place among many tough opponents.
Sophomores skipper Alanna Austin and crew Kate Lenhard continued sailing in the Division B races, earning a 15th-place finish in the two-day regatta.
The Green Wave will head back to New England again next weekend, sailing in the Yale Women's Regatta in New London, Connecticut on Saturday and Sunday.
