NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane men's basketball team will play its first true road game of the season during a trip to Mobile, Ala., to take on South Alabama on Saturday, December 8. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. (CT) and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
STARTING FIVE
  1. Tulane looks to build on the mid-week win over UT-Martin with its first true road game of the season when the Green Wave heads to Mobile for the back end of a home-and-home series with the Jaguars. The Wave won last year's contest, 77-73, at home in their final non-league game of the season.
  2. In Wednesday's night's 87-74 home victory over the Skyhawks, the Green Wave shot a season-high 58.8 percent from the field behind Shakwon Barrett's 26 points on 10-for-11 shooting and double-doubles by Caleb Daniels (17 points/10 rebounds) and Samir Sehic (12 points/11 rebounds).
  3. Caleb Daniels has scored in double-figures in seven straight games and has led the Green Wave in points in three of those contests. During that span, he is averaging 16.9 points and shooting 51 percent overall. He has a pair of 20-point efforts and is averaging three assists per game.
  4. The Green Wave currently lead all American Athletic Conference teams in 3-point field goal percentage, converting at a 37.5 percent clip. Cincinnati stands second at 35.8 percent, while Houston is third at 35.7.
  5. Jaguars head coach Richie Riley faces Tulane for the second year in a row, but leading his second team in as many seasons. Tulane collected a 76-69 comeback win over Riley's previous team, Nicholls State, on Dec. 18, 2017 behind Jordan Cornish's 18 points.
SCOUTING SOUTH ALABAMA
• The Jaguars enter Saturday's game with losses in three of their last four, including a 71-60 setback at the University of New Orleans on Wednesday night. They are 4-1 on their home court and 0-4 in road contests.
• South Alabama is led by Kory Holden who missed the first seven games of the season, but has scored 40 points in the last two games while making nine of 12 3-point attempts. Rodrick Sikes is averaging 15.2 points per game, while Josh Ajayi also averaged double-digits with 12.1 points and a team-leading 8.1 rebounds per game.
ZHANG MAKES AAC WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
• Freshman swingman Kevin Zhang was selected to the first American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll of the 2018-19 season on November 12.
• Starting in his college debut against 17th-ranked Florida State, Zhang scored a game-high 24 points and grabbed seven rebounds with two assists and just one turnover in 35 minutes. The Shenyang, China native shot 9-for-13 overall, including 4-for-5 from 3-point range, while 17 of his 24 points came in the second half.Â
STRENGTH WITHIN THE SCHEDULE
• Tulane will play a minimum of 11 regular-season games against nine teams that earned postseason bids in 2018, including seven opponents that played in the NCAA Tournament (Cincinnati, Florida State, Georgia State, Houston, South Dakota State, Texas Southern and Wichita State). Temple and Southeastern Louisiana made NIT appearances.
• The Green Wave will host 15 home games and will head out to compete in five neutral-site contests. The Wave will play just one true road tilt in the non-conference slate at South Alabama on Dec. 8.
DUNLEAVYS LONE FATHER-SON HEAD-COACHING DUO
 • In his third season as head coach, Mike Dunleavy Sr., is the only head coach with a son who is also a head coach at the NCAA Division I level.Â
 • His son, Baker Dunleavy, is in his second season at the helm of Quinnipiac's program.
ZHANG'S ARRIVAL MARKS RARE FOREIGN IMPORT
NCAA Division I men's basketball players hailing from China are rare, as freshman swingman Kevin Zhang is one of just three players nationally who can stake that claim along with Cal-Berkley freshman James Zhao and UPenn frosh Michael Wang.
