Bowling Wraps up Play in Hawk Classic

MILLSBORO, Del. – The No. 14 Tulane bowling team got a pair of top 10 individual finishes and had one of its best rounds in the traditional matches as the Green Wave earned an 11th place finish at the 2019 UMES Hawk Classic in Millsboro, Delaware.
The Green Wave knocked down 12,825 total pins over the course of the three-day event this weekend, finishing with a pin average of 191.4 in 67 total games from Friday to Sunday.
"I am impressed with the team's rebound on Saturday after a struggle on Friday. Overall though this tournament we were just too inconsistent," head coach Hayley Veitch said. "Our shot and spare making was not great. There are definitely going to be some much-needed changes going forward in order to enhance our performance in 2020."
Senior Isabelle Lee led the Tulane contingent on the weekend as she finished fifth overall, knocking down 1,064 pins and finished with a pin average of 212.80. Freshman Kylie Frick finished in ninth place, finishing with 1,055 pins knocked down and an average of 211.00.
Crystal Singh finished 24th with an average of 201.20, while Madison McCall finished 32nd finished with a pin average of 196.00.
The Green Wave bounced back in a big way on Saturday, going 4-1 in traditional matches and jumping up from 13th all the way to ninth after knocking down 4,941 pins and increasing their pin average to 191.3.
Tulane got off to a bit of a rough start on Friday, but rallied at the end to sit in 13th place overall after knocking down 4,625 pins to sit in 13th place overall. The squad finished with a pin average of 185.0 through the five Baker matches on day one.
Sacred Heart got the best of the Green Wave in the opener, with a 1,023-945 score, with Lincoln Memorial earning a 1,014-945 victory over Tulane in the second contest of the day. The host Hawks earned a 958-905 win, with Monmouth pulling out a 947-824 decision.
The Green Wave saved its best for last against Saint Francis, winning 1,006-814 to put a cap on Friday.
Tulane will be back in action in 2020, taking part in the Stormin Blue and Gold Vegas Classic hosted by Mount Saint Mary's in January.
