Bowling Wraps up Competition in Texas

DALLAS, Texas – The No. 9 Tulane bowling team wrapped up play at the SFA Stormin' Ladyjack Classic on Sunday with a 12th place finish in the event.

The Green Wave knocked down a total of 12,334 pins for a pin average of 181.4. The squad nailed 4,618 pins in the Baker format, 5,426 pins in the six traditional matches and 2,290 in the two bracket final matches on Sunday.

Senior Hailee Hammond led the squad with a 33rd place finish individually, knocking down 1,114 pins in the traditional matches. Sophomore Madison McCall was right behind in 39th place, knocking down 1,105 pins for a pin average of 184.17.

After dropping the first three games to Louisiana Tech in the opening final match of the day, the group bounced back to take the next two but couldn't make the full charge in falling 4-2 (163-121, 167-157, 201-193, 148-166, 161-168, 245-180.

In the last match, the Green Wave and Central Missouri went the distance, with each side trading wins through the early goings of the meeting. After losing the first game, Tulane went on to win three of the next four to put the Mules on the brink, but UCM won the last two and earned the victory 4-3 (224-182, 180-181, 140-146, 228-193, 150-208, 191-190, 247-205).

Tulane pulled a pair of wins on the opening day Friday, knocking down 4,618 pins to sit in ninth place. After a close, 950-947 loss to Sam Houston State, the Green Wave pulled out a 893-881 win over North Carolina A&T.

Wisconsin-Whitewater got the best of the squad in the third Baker match of the day, winning 941-908, while Central Missouri handed Tulane it's third loss of the day 1,008-896. Fortunately, the squad was able to bounce back by defeating McKendree 974-907.

By Saturday, Tulane moved from ninth to tenth, as the team knocked down 4,553 pins through five of the six traditional matches. The team opened Saturday with a 910-880 win over in-state rival Louisiana Tech and turned around and beat Nebraska 988-967.

Unfortunately, the team dropped its next three of the afternoon in a 1,114-892 loss to Arkansas State, 969-841 defeat to Adelphi and 930-922 loss to Vanderbilt. In the only traditional match on Sunday, SFA defeated Tulane 1,003-873.

The Green Wave will be back in action March 15-17, taking part in the Colombia 300 Music City Classic in Smyrna, Tennessee. The event is hosted by Vanderbilt University.
