
Bowling Caps Regular Season at Music City Classic

NEW ORLEANS – The No. 12 Tulane bowling team will close the regular season this weekend in Smyrna, Tennessee, participating in the Columbia 300 Music City Classic hosted by Vanderbilt University.

After a grueling stretch of three matches in three weeks in February, the Green Wave will take to the lanes one more time after a three week break in preparation for the Southland Conference Championships next weekend in Arlington, Texas.

Tulane enters the event with a 57-46 record in competitions this season, with 24 wins in Baker matches and 26 wins in traditional team matches. The team has produced seven top-10 finishes in their eight competitions, with a pair of finishes in the top five.

The last time out Tulane earned a 12th place finish at the SFA Stormin' Ladyjack Classic in Dallas, knocking down a total of 12,334 pins for a pin average of 181.4. Senior Hailee Hammond led the squad with a 33rd place finish individually, knocking down 1,114 pins, while Madison McCall finished in 39th place, knocking down 1,105 pins for a pin average of 184.17.

On the season, senior Tiera Gulum leads the team with 7,600 total pins knocked down in 38 games, for an average of 200.00. McCall is second with 7,229 pins and an average of 190.23.

The tournament begins in earnest Friday morning at the Smyrna Bowling Center with five, five-game Baker matches beginning at 9:30 a.m. Saturday sees the team take to the lanes for five traditional matches, with the finals taking place Sunday morning with three best-of-seven Baker matches.

The 28-team field features 18 of the top 25 teams in the country according to the NTCA March poll, paced by No. 1 McKendree, No.2 Commodores, No. 4 Arkansas State, No. 5 Sam Houston State, No. 6 Stephen F. Austin, No. 9 Saint Francis and No. 10 Wisconsin-Whitewater rounding out the top 10.
