NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane Green Wave will get its first taste of the road life on Tuesday, traveling down the road to take on the Nicholls State University Colonels at 6 p.m. at Ray E. Didier Field.
Â
Tuesday's game will be televised by CST and streamed live on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app, with blackout restrictions based on location. WRBH 88.3 FM will carry the game on radio with play-by-play from Todd Graffagnini.
Â
The Green Wave head into the matchup with a 6-2 overall record, putting an end to their eight-game set of home contests to start the year over the weekend against the Ole Miss Rebels. While the team dropped two of the three games in the series, Tulane finished the weekend outhitting the visitors from Oxford in all three games, including the walk-off, two-run home run to seal the win on Saturday.
Â
Tulane's offense has continued to produce incredible numbers with the team batting .341 on the year, with eight starters holding a .300 or better average through the team's eight games so far. Four players feature double figure hits, as among the 102 hits the team has produced this year 19 are for doubles, 13 are home runs and four are triples.
Â
After a week where he hit 563 with a 1.000 slugging percentage against Lamar and Ole Miss, sophomore Kobi Owen leads the team at the plate with a .462 batting average with 12 total hits, three home runs and 14 RBI. Owen belted two home runs in Saturday's game and drove in five in a career day for the outfielder, leading to David Bedgood's two-run shot in the bottom of the ninth to cap the day.
Â
Trevor Jensen had 11 hits, including four doubles and seven RBI, while Grant Mathews nearly hit for the cycle and finished with eight hits.
Â
On the mound Tulane got some strong performances as Kaleb Roper struck out eight in 6.2 innings, while Keagan Gillies fanned six on Saturday and Chase Solesky held the Rebels to just three runs in 6.1 innings with four strikeouts on Sunday.
Â
Tulane will be taking on a Nicholls team that is 6-1 on the season and is coming off a sweep of Grambling over the weekend in Thibodaux. After dropping the first game of the season to Southern Illinois two weeks ago, the Colonels have won six-straight coming into Tuesday.
Â
The two sides didn't meet last year, as in 2017 Tulane took a pair of games in Thibodaux and New Orleans.
