NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Tulane baseball team will put its six-game winning streak on the line Tuesday, driving just up the road to Maestri Field to take on the New Orleans Privateers at 6:30 p.m. in the second game of the annual Pelican Cup series.

The Green Wave hope to roll on after a solid week where the team swept the USF Bulls at home to improve to 25-11 overall and 7-2 in the American Athletic Conference. Tulane is 19-7 at home this season, having matched their entire home wins total from a season ago, while also sitting in second place in the league standings four weeks in.
Tulane, leading The American in 13 offensive categories, hit .357 as a team last week in wins over the Bulls and Southeastern Louisiana, scoring 50 runs in four games on 51 hits. The squad smashed 12 doubles and 10 home runs, as the pitching staff held the two teams to a combined .255 batting average and just 31 runs with 41 strikeouts.
On Monday the league recognized Kody Hoese with its player of the week award for the second consecutive week, as the 2019 Golden Spikes candidate hit .467 with three home runs, two doubles, a 1.200 slugging percentage and .591 on-base percentage. The junior continues to lead the team in a host of categories, including maintaining the lead in the nation in home runs with 19.
Right behind was Luke Glancy, who over the course of four games drove in 10 RBI and hit three home runs, slugging 1.063.
Eight individual players finished the week hitting .300 or above, as Trevor Jensen who led all players with nine hits and a .474 batting average. Jensen drove in six RBI in a single game for the first time since 2008, as he now has 20 games with multiple hits and eight with multi-RBI, having two games with at least five.
After making just two appearances as a freshman last year, sophomore pitcher Justin Campbell has more than exceeded that as a sophomore in 2019 with his 20 leading all pitchers so far this season. The Michigan native didn't have a save coming into the weekend and by the end picked up two, as he ended the week with a career-high six strikeouts to clinch the sweep of the Bulls.
Since the two sides last faced off, The Privateers have won just two of their last eight coming into the second game of the series with Tulane. Their last win was a shutout of McNeese, sitting at 17-19 on the year and 5-13 in the Southland Conference.
Tulane dropped that opening meeting in extra innings, falling on a two-run home run in the 10th.
