NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University women's basketball team will continue American Athletic Conference play as it hosts Memphis Saturday, Jan. 11. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. in Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.

STARTING FIVE
1.           Tulane has made two 17-plus-point comeback wins on the road this season. The Green Wave rallied back from down 18 points in the third quarter at Washington. The Olive and Blue trailed by 17 in the third quarter at Southern Miss and came back to win.
2.           The Green Wave have won at the buzzer twice this season. Junior Arsula Clark hit a layup for the win at Washington and junior Krystal Freeman knocked down a 15-foot jumper as the final buzzer went off to secure the win over Tulsa.
3.           Junior Sierra Cheatham was named to the AAC Honor Roll Monday, Jan. 6 after posting 12 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks.
4.           Tulane leads the American Athletic Conference and ranks 32nd in the NCAA in 3-point field goal defense as it has held opponents to 26.4 percent from behind the arc.
5.           Tulane has started league play 2-0 for the third time in the six years the Green Wave have played in the American Athletic Conference.

SERIES HISTORY –MEMPHIS
• Memphis leads the all-time series with Tulane 28-21. Last season, Tulane took the first meeting between the two teams with a score of 62-61 in overtime. Memphis grabbed the second game between them, 65-59, in New Orleans.
• Prior to the last meeting, the Green Wave had won two straight games against Memphis.
• The Olive and Blue are 11-13 against the Tigers in Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.
• The Green Wave have collected a 19-13 overall record against Memphis under head coach Lisa Stockton.

• The Tigers bring a 9-6 overall record and an 0-2 conference mark into the game with the Green Wave.
• Memphis is coming off a 73-66 loss to Cincinnati.

• Sophomore Jamirah Shutes leads the team with 14.9 points per game, while junior Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu pulls down a team-high 7.9 rebounds per game.
• Shutes and senior Gazmyne Herndon are tops on the team with 3.6 assists per game.
• Junior Keke Hunter adds 7.9 points and 7.5 rebounds per game this season.
• Head coach Melissa McFerrin has collected a 184-178 during her time in Memphis.
• She previously made a stop at American and has a career-record of 234-248.

• Tulane is 41-45 in American Conference play.
• Under coach Stockton, Tulane is 229-161 in conference games.

LAST MATCHUP
• The Tigers took the last matchup between the two teams, 65-59, on Feb. 16, 2019.
•Memphis led by 19 with 6:49 to play then the Green Wave went on an 11-0 run to cut it to eight. Tulane was able to cut the score to 59-57 with 39 seconds left. The Olive and Blue were unable to cut into the lead any further.
• Dynah Jones led the team with 17 points and three steals.
• Sierra Cheatham added 11 points, while Krystal Freeman logged 10 points and nine rebounds.
• Alana Davis led Memphis with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Jamirah Shutes recorded 19 points.

GETTING IT DONE IN THE CLASSROOM
• Junior Sierra Cheatham gets it done on and off the court. She is currently averaging 5.7 points and 4.1 rebounds on the court. The Houston native registered at 4.0 GPA while majoring in neuroscience in the fall semester.

FREEMAN GETS 600
• With her layup in the first quarter against South Alabama on Dec. 7, junior Krystal Freeman scored her 600th point. She joined Clark as the second player on the team to score 600 points in her career. She now has 684 points in her career.

CHEATHAM GETS 400
• With a first-quarter 3-pointer against UCF on March 2, 2019, junior Sierra Cheatham became the second player on the team last year to eclipse 400 points for her career. Cheatham has now scored 494 points at Tulane with 68.6 percent of them coming from the 3-point line.
• She was named to the AAC Honor Roll on Jan. 6 after posting 12 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks in the win at Wichita State.

IT'S A BLOCK PARTY
• Tulane blocked a season-high 12 shots against Georgia Southern on Dec. 30. This was the most blocked shots by a Green Wave team since the Olive and Blue swatted 12 shots on Dec. 9, 2002 against Drake.
• The Olive and Blue rank 33rd in the country in blocked shots per game.
• Sophomore Mia Heide ranks second in the American and 39th in the NCAA in blocked shots per game at 2.13.

THREE-POINT DEFENSE
• Green Wave opponents are shooting 26.4 percent from behind the arc this season. This figure ranks first in the AAC and 32nd in the NCAA.
• The good 3-point defense started the 2019-20 season as Jackson State shot 15.8 percent from behind the arc. This was the lowest 3-point percentage by a Tulane opponent since Memphis shot 11.1 percent on 2/2/2019.Â
• Tulane held Central Arkansas to 17.6 percent from 3-point range.
• The Wave held Charlotte to 16.7 percent shooting from behind the arc on Nov. 29.
• The Olive and Blue continued the good defense holding Colorado to 16.7 percent shooting from three on Dec. 21.
• The Green Wave added Georgia Southern to the list of under 20 percent shooting when they held the Eagles to 10.0 percent shooting from behind the arc. This was the lowest mark by a Tulane opponent since SMU shot 6.7 (1-15) percent from behind the arc on Jan. 12, 2019. Â

KEEPING OPPONENTS UNDER 60
• Tulane has held strong on the defensive end holding seven opponents under sixty points thus far this season. The Green Wave are 5-2 when their opponent scores 60 points or fewer.
• Tulane's opponents are averaging 59.6 points per game this season.
• The Green Wave held Jackson State to 46 points on 22.7 percent shooting.Â
• The Green Wave held LSU to 59 points and 39.6 percent shooting.
• Central Arkansas' 38 total points were the fewest points allowed by the Green Wave since FAMU scored 32 in 2018.
• The Green Wave held Georgia Southern to 40 points on Dec. 30 and Wichita State to 56 points on Jan. 5.

SINGLE-DIGIT QUARTERS
• The Olive and Blue have made a point to be strong defensively under coach Stockton. Tulane held LSU to two points in the second quarter on Nov. 17, which marked the 15th time Tulane has held an opponent to five or fewer points in a quarter since the NCAA moved to the four quarters format in the 2015-16 season.
• Tulane has held opponents to 9.7 points during the second quarter of home games this season.
• The Green Wave only allowed Georgia Southern to score in double-digits in the third quarter. Â
