Mar 4, 2020 | Women's Tennis
NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane women's tennis team looks to get back in the win column during a mid-week home match against Jackson State on Thursday, March 5. First serve is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., at the City Park Tennis Center.
IN THE RANKINGS
Freshman Mackenzie Clark holds a No. 112 national ITA national singles ranking according to the latest poll released on March 3. It marks the third straight time she has been listed in the poll after previously being listed at No. 103 (Feb. 4) and No. 101 (Feb. 18).
SCOUTING JACKSON STATE
The Tigers (6-8) enter Thursday's matchup riding a three-match losing streak, which came on the heels of a three-match winning streak early in February. Jackson State has lost to Alabama State (4-3), Southern Miss (4-0) and UAB (4-0) in consecutive outings. The Tigers share two common opponents with the Green Wave, suffering a 4-0 loss at Southeastern Louisiana on Feb. 1 before earning a 4-3 home win over Nicholls on Feb. 16.
DOUBLES POINT DICTATION
Tulane owns a (6-0) record when winning the doubles point this season but has not recorded a victory without at least two doubles wins.
LAST TIME OUT
The Green Wave are coming off a 6-1 home defeat against 29th-ranked Old Dominion on Sunday afternoon. The Green Wave gave a tough fight in doubles, but were unable to secure the first point after dropping the No. 3 match by walkover. Sophomore Adelaide Lavery scored Tulane's lone point with a 1-6, 7-5, 1-0(6) comeback on court two.
RANKED SINGLES WINS
Tulane junior Lauren Gish and freshmen Mackenzie Clark and Lahari Yelamanchili have all secured singles wins over ranked opponents in their first season with the Green Wave. Most recently, Clark upset 42nd-ranked Taylor Bridges at LSU on Jan. 31, after Gish defeated No. 116 Cameron Corse from Notre Dame and Yelamanchili outlasted No. 18 Eden Richardson of LSU during the fall season.
