Mar 5, 2020 | Women's Tennis
NEW ORLEANS – Despite playing short-handed, the Tulane women's tennis team snapped a five-match skid by defeating Jackson State, 4-1, on Thursday afternoon at the City Park Tennis Center.

Despite dropping No. 3 doubles by walkover, the Green Wave (7-7) collected a convincing, 6-3 win on court one thanks to the duo of Mackenzie Clark and Lauren Gish to level the battle for the first point of the contest.

After dropping the first three games on court two, Christina Sisti and Lahari Yelamanchili showed their resiliency by winning six of the next seven games to complete a 6-4 comeback victory and clinch the doubles point.

Jackson State picked up its first point via walkover at No. 6 singles to tie the match, 1-1, but Tulane responded by winning four first sets on courts one through four. Yelamanchili was first off to finish with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Iesha Sheperd on court three, before Adelaide Lavery finished off a dominant 6-2, 6-2 victory over Sofia Beggiatto on court two.

Lauren Gish was close behind on court four, clinching with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Maria Martinez.

Up next, the Green Wave head to Louisiana-Lafayette to take on the Ragin' Cajuns on Saturday, March 7. First serve is scheduled for 10 a.m.
