Bowling Ends Regular Season at Music City Classic

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The No. 20 Tulane bowling team wraps up the regular season this weekend in Tennessee, taking part in the Columbia 300 Music City Classic hosted by Vanderbilt University this Friday-Sunday.
The competition gets underway at the Smyrna Bowling Center Friday morning with teams rolling five, five-game Baker matches. Saturday, the teams will roll five traditional team games to set the stage for the three best of seven bracket final matches Sunday to determine the overall team champion.
This weekend's tournament will be the final tune-up for the squad as they head into the 2020 Southland Bowling League Championship later this month in Conroe, Texas. There, the team will be competing for a spot in the NCAA Tournament which begins in April.
The Green Wave competed twice in February, placing sixth at the Wildcat Classic in Orlando and 12th at the Mid-Winter Invitational in Arkansas. The team comes into this weekend's tournament with a 45-44 overall record in all competitions.
Tulane is led by junior Madison McCall, who leads the team with over 7,000 pins knocked down in individual matches, sitting with a pin average of 200.77. McCall earned her highest finish of the season at the Mid-Winter Invite, placing third overall to earn all-tournament team honors for the second time this season.
Freshman Amelia Vasquez has knocked down the second-most pins with 5,736 in 29 games, while senior Isabelle Lee is second in pin average with a mark of 199.03.
The Columbia 300 Music City Classic will feature 29 teams this year, with 17 being ranked in the NTCA March Top 25 poll. The host Commodores won the title last year, winning this tournament five times over the course of its history.
Along with the Green Wave, the tournament features No. 18 Adelphi, No. 5 Arkansas State, Aurora, No. 13 Central Missouri, Drury, Elmhurst, Kentucky Wesleyan, Lewis, No. 24 Lincoln Memorial, No. 25 LIU Brooklyn, No. 11 Louisiana Tech, No. 19 Maryville, No. 1 McKendree, No. 3 Nebraska, No. 10 North Carolina A&T, North Central, No. 14 Sacred Heart, No. 2 Sam Houston, Spalding, No. 7 Stephen F. Austin, Tusculum, No. 21 UAB, No. 6 Maryland-Eastern Shore, No. 16 Wisconsin-Whitewater, Upper Iowa, Valparaiso, No. 4 Vanderbilt, No. 7 Youngstown State.
