NEW ORLEANS, La. – The No. 20 Tulane baseball team returns to the field for a pair of midweek contests, taking on the Lamar Cardinals Tuesday and Wednesday night beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
Â
The five-game week commences with a televised broadcast on CST Tuesday with Bob Licht and Roger Cador calling the action from New Orleans. There will be an ESPN3 stream available through WatchESPN and the WatchESPN app, with the game blacked out in the CST viewing area.
Â
Wednesday's game will stream on Tulane All-Access, with radio coverage of both games on WRBH 88.3 FM in New Orleans and through TuneIn and the TuneIn app with Andrew Allegretta. Links to the radio and video broadcast, along with live stats and more can be found at TulaneGreenWave.com.
Â
The Green Wave come into the pair of games riding a seven-game winning streak, the longest for the team this season and sit with a 13-2 overall record after sweeping the Southern University Jaguars over the weekend in New Orleans and Baton Rouge. Tulane extended its winning streak to 16 consecutive wins over the Jaguars, and ending the week 4-0 against a pair of SWAC teams.
Â
The wins helped push Tulane's ranking up in the D1baseball Top 25, moving up to No. 20, while staying put at No. 29 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top 30.
Â
Tulane's offense has seemed to hit its stride as of late, reeling off a handful of double-digit run performances the last two weeks and scoring no less than seven runs six times over that stretch. Before then, the Green Wave had only done it twice.
Â
That offensive proficiency has pushed the team's overall batting average to .303 on the season, which includes 36 doubles, 10 triples and 13 home runs, driving in 101 RBI of a possible 112 runs scored through 15 total games this year. As a team, Tulane is slugging .490 with a .398 on-base percentage.
Â
Through nearly a third of the season, Green Wave pitchers have been a force on the mound in holding opponents to just 53 runs total, with 37 of those runs being earned. The group has an ERA of 2.47 with three shutouts, already more than each of the last three seasons. The opposition is batting .198 against the Wave, as the team already has 147 strikeouts together.
Â
Lamar comes into the games with a 7-8 overall record, opening Southland Conference play getting swept by Stephen F. Austin last weekend, stifling a team had won four of the five previous games before that.
Â
Tulane has produced five consecutive wins against the Cardinals, including earning two wins Lamar last year in a midweek series by a 9-1 and 22-10 score line. Â
