
Bowling Opens 2021 at the Prairie View A&M Invitational X

NEW ORLEANS – The No. 19 Tulane bowling team will return to action this weekend in Dallas, Texas, at the Prairie View A&M Invitational X at USA Bowl.

The three-day event gets underway Friday morning with five five-game Baker matches, followed by Saturday's five traditional team matches. Sunday will include one traditional game and two Baker game sets in a bracket format. The bracket finals will determine the final standing and overall team champion.

The Green Wave roll into the spring portion of the schedule this week with a 4-5 overall record after finishing fifth at the LA Tech Invite in the fall. Tulane is 0-3 in Baker matches so far this season, while sitting at 2-2 in traditional matches and 2-0 in bracket matches on the last day.

As a group the last time out, Tulane knocked down 9,593 total pins to earn a fifth-place finish at the LA Tech Invite in November. The Green Wave finished the tournament with a 181.0 pin average.

Freshman Morgan Gitlitz led the way for Tulane in the season's first tournament with a sixth-place finish and an all-tournament team selection. She leads the team with a 207.25 pin average through the fall.

Junior Crystal Singh is second on the team with a 197.25 pin average. She finished ninth at the LA Tech Invitational. Senior Madison McCall comes into the weekend third on the team with a 189.75 pin average after placing 13th in the opening tournament of the season.

Freshman Yarelis Alvarez finished 28th in Ruston, La., with a 183.33 pin average, while sophomore Jenica Baron and junior Veronica Petrinec rounded out the roster with 161.0 and 135.0 pin averages, respectively.

The 11-team Prairie View A&M Invitational X features 10 NTCA Top 25 teams, paced by No. 1 McKendree, No. 2 Vanderbilt, No. 3 Arkansas State, No. 4 Nebraska and No. 5 Sam Houston State. Three other top 10 teams will join the field in No. 7 Stephen F. Austin, No. 9 Louisiana Tech and No. 10 Youngstown State. Tournament host Prairie View A&M received votes in the last NTCA Poll. The event will also feature Texas Southern.
