
Bowling Travels to Bulldog Classic

NEW ORLEANS – The No. 12 Tulane University women's bowling team will travel back to Dallas, Texas, to compete in the Bulldog Classic on Friday-Sunday, Feb. 12-14.

The three-day event gets underway Friday morning with five traditional team matches, followed by two more traditional team matches and three Baker matches. Sunday will include four more Baker game set.Â
The field will feature No. 2 Vanderbilt, No. 3 Arkansas State, No. 5 Louisiana Tech, No. 6 Sam Houston State, No. 10 Stephen F. Austin and Grambling State.

Tulane comes into the weekend with an 11-11 overall record. The Green Wave went 7-6 overall the last time out at the Prairie View A&M Invitational X. The Green Wave knocked down 11,464 total pins and finished with a 191.1 pin average on the weekend. Tulane opened the play going 3-2 in Baker matches on Friday, Jan. 29. The Olive and Blue logged wins over then-No. 10 Youngstown State (957-940), No. 5 Sam Houston State (882-857) and Texas Southern (985-885).

The Olive and Blue logged a 2-3 record in the traditional matches on Saturday, Jan. 30. Tulane grabbed two wins over host Prairie View A&M.

Sophomore Amelia Vasquez led Tulane with a 224 in the opening traditional match against Prairie View A&M. Senior Madison McCall joined her with a game over 200 bowling a 204 in the first match Saturday. McCall led the way for the day with games at 219, 215, 160 and 231 for a 205.8 pin average. Vasquez logged a game of 204 against No. 4 Nebraska. She finished the day with a 191.6 pin average. McCall placed sixth overall, while Vasquez finished 17th.

The Green Wave claimed two wins in bracket play by beating then-No. 7 Stephen F. Austin, 4-1 (221-169, 181-156, 199-181, 208-217, 195-183) and then-No. 9 Louisiana Tech, 4-1 (186-170, 193-196, 235-151, 214-169, 237-227).

McCall leads the Green Wave with a 198.67 pin average, while Vasquez is second at 191.60. Freshman Morgan Gitlitz has logged a 190.75 pin average this season.
