Bowling Places Fifth at Lady Techsters Classic
Feb 13, 2021 | Women's Bowling
DALLAS – The No. 12 Tulane Bowling team placed fifth at the Lady Techsters Classic today. The tournament was set to conclude on Sunday, Feb. 14, but was cut short due to impending inclement weather.
Tulane (14-14) knocked down 6,724 total pins over the two days of competition for a 3-3 record. The Green Wave went 2-2 on the first day of competition in four traditional matches. The Olive and Blue opened the tournament with 1,006 pins in a bye. They followed that with a narrow, 923-881, loss to the tournament host No. 5 Louisiana Tech.
"Another unique tournament experience," Tulane head coach Hayley Veitch said. "The team did well to adapt to the change in format overall. Typically, traditional games aren't our forte, but we were able to be extremely competitive. Every match we bowled came down to the 9th and 10th frames. We are getting better at every tournament and progressing with the skills we need to reach the next level."
Tulane got back to their winning ways with a 910-882 defeat of No. 6 Sam Houston State in the third match. Tulane then fell to No. 2 Vanderbilt, 998-957, in the fourth match. The Green Wave ended the first day on a high note with a 1,023-1,002 win over No. 10 Stephen F. Austin.
