Bernat Takes First as Tulane Golf Finishes Third at Ron Moore Intercollegiate
Oct 9, 2022 | Women's Golf
DENVER – Shooting a 67 to card a new career low, Carla Bernat took the Ron Moore Intercollegiate individual title while the team took third overall.
"We finished out the week strong both as a team and individually," head coach Stew Burke said. "The ladies knew there was a low round out there on a long and difficult test of golf and I'm delighted with the performance. Carla stayed patient all week and it paid off in the final round to help her record her first collegiate victory. It's always great to climb the leaderboard as a team too. This week was a total team effort."
Â
Shooting 2-under as a team in the third round, the Wave were able to climb four spots on the leaderboard and finish just behind Xavier (-5) and Vanderbilt (-25).
Â
Bernat bested her round two card to record her new career low of 67 in the final round. The sophomore drained seven birdies in the third round to finish 10-under in the tournament, winning her first title as a collegiate golfer.
Â
Sandra Vazquez had the second-best round for Tulane finishing 4-under in the third round. The senior shot 6-under on the back nine, with an eagle on hole 18.
Â
Matilde Innocenti and Miriam Emmert both finished tied for 39th, shooting 5-over through three rounds.Â
Cleo Liu rounded out the Tulane lineup with a total card 6-over.Â
