Four Set to Compete for Fall Pairs Championship
Nov 3, 2022 | Women's Beach Volleyball
NEW ORLEANS – Four players will represent the Tulane University Beach Volleyball team this weekend in the inaugural AVCA Fall Collegiate Beach Championships. The Green Wave pairs set to compete in Huntsville, Alabama, will be Kendall Peters with Mollie Ebertin and Samantha Mehlman with Abby Jackson.
The Women's Pairs Championships will open on Friday at The John Hunt Park Sand Volleyball Complex. Peters and Ebertin will begin competition in Pool 14 against pairs from Georgia State, Oregon, and Washington. Over in Pool 9, Mehlman and Jackson will start the tournament against pairs from Cal, Long Beach State, and Pepperdine.
The women's tournament, which will run from Friday to Sunday, will consist of 64 pairs selected from college beach teams across the country. The tournament will include traditional pool play on day one, followed by bracket play—played to place—on days two and three. All pairs will compete on all three days.
Pairs are limited to a maximum of three matches per day and a minimum of one match per day.
Pools will be comprised of four pairs. Where possible, pools will not have more than one pair per university. In bracket play, should two pairs from the same university make it to the semifinal round they will play against each other. If they are on the opposite sides of the bracket the pairs will be switched. Should three or more pairs from the same university make it to the semifinals the bracket remains as it stands.
