
No. 15 Tulane Bowling Finishes Sixth at the Lady Techster Classic

DALLAS – The pins did not fall in favor of the 16th-ranked Tulane bowling team on the final day of the Lady Techsters Classic as the Green Wave ended in sixth place out of 11 teams in the tournament.
The Olive and Blue went 2-1 Sunday, dropping their overall tournament record to 6-6 to ultimately land sixth in the event.
"This weekend was a physical and mental grind facing the toughest lane conditions we have seen this season," said head coach Hayley Veitch. "Fortunately, the score pace was low, so we maintained competitive within the competition however we have to tighten up our consistency in preparation for next weekend."
The Green Wave came out hot taking the first game from Grambling State. Tulane saw one of its largest margins of defeat all season long, 997-663. In the match Tulane had three bowlers hit the 200-pin mark in Madison McCall, Amelia Vasquez and Katharina Mente.
The Green Wave moved on to baker match play following the win over Grambling. Tulane drew LIU in the first game. The Greenies came out on top 4-2. Tulane mange to put 200 plus on the board in three of five games.
In match three, Tulane went to battle with LMU. The Wave dropped the last game of the tournament 4-3 landing them in sixth place on the weekend.
Tulane ended Sunday with a total pinfall of 3,185. The Wave averaged 227.5 pins per game in final day of the tournament.
McCall, Vasquez and Morgan Gitlitz posted the best overall averages for the tournament each ranking in the top 25 of the 82 overall bowlers. MaCall was ranked sixth overall at the end of the competition knocking down an average of 203.5 pins per game.
The Green Wave will hit the lanes again Feb. 18, in the Mid Winter Invitational in Jonesboro, Arkansas, hosted by Arkansas State.
