
Tulane Women’s Basketball Visits Wichita State for Regular Season Finale Wednesday

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University women's basketball (20-7, 11-4) will travel to Wichita, Kansas, to face the Wichita State Shockers (13-15, 4-11) in the regular season finale on Wednesday, March 2. Tipoff between Tulane and Wichita State is set for 6 p.m. CT from Charles Koch Arena.

The Green Wave's matchup with the Shockers will be aired live on ESPN+. Fans can watch the game live by CLICKING HERE. With a win against Wichita State, Tulane would extend its win streak to 10 games, its longest since winning 10-straight during the 2006-07 season and tied for the second longest streak under head coach Lisa Stockton (14 games - 1999-2000). A victory over the Shockers would also give the Wave 21 wins on the year, its most since winning 23 games during the 2015-16 season. Tulane would also extend its win streak in AAC games to nine, its longest win streak since joining the league in the 2014-15 season.

This will be 10th all-time meeting between Tulane and Wichita State with the Wave leading the series 5-4. Tulane has won the last three matchups with Wichita State including winning the previous meeting this season. In the last matchup, the Green Wave defeated the Shockers 67-52 on Jan. 22, 2022. The Wave holds a 2-1 record against the Shockers on the road. The last time Tulane beat Wichita State on the road came on Feb. 3, 2021, 57-55.

Four players are averaging at least 11 points for the Olive and Blue this season with redshirt senior Moon Ursin leading the team averaging 13.7 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. The Destrehan, Louisiana, native ranks third in the AAC in rebounding and seventh in scoring. Dynah Jones joins Ursin in the top-10 in scoring in the league with 13.3 points per contest and is averaging a team-high 14.5 points in league games. Krystal Freeman follows with 12.0 points and 7.8 boards while Arsula Clark rounds out the top scorers for Tulane posting 11.7 points and 4.0 assists per contest.

The Green Wave holds a 6-4 record in true road games and is 8-5 away from home so far this season. Tulane is 5-2 on the road in conference play including wins in its last four road contests. The Wave is averaging 68.8 points per game away from Uptown this season while shooting 40.6 percent from the field and 32.4 percent from beyond the arc. The Green Wave continues to hold the advantage on the glass in road and neutral site contests outrebounding its opponents 40.5 to 37.3 per game.Â

In its last time out, Tulane won its ninth-straight contest and its eighth consecutive AAC game as it defeated Temple 71-56 in Philadelphia on Saturday. Dynah Jones led the Green Wave with 18 points while Mia Heide and Arsula Clark followed in double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Wichita State is coming off its third consecutive loss as it fell on the road to Tulsa 61-49 on Sunday, Feb. 27. The Shockers are led by the duo of Mariah McCully and Asia Strong. McCully paces the Shockers with 12.5 points per game while Strong follows with 10.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest. WSU is 8-6 overall at home this season and 2-5 in league contests at home. The Shockers are averaging 66.1 points on 38.4 percent shooting from the field while allowing opponents to score 56.4 points per game on 33.9 percent shooting at home this season.

Following its matchup with the Shockers, the Green Wave will play in the AAC Tournament in Fort Worth, Texas, on Tuesday, March 8. The matchup for Tulane is to be determined based on the final seeding for the tournament.
