NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University sailing COED and women's teams hit the road again this weekend, March 26-27, for two separate regattas in Virginia and Maryland. The Green Wave COED crew will compete in the Aaron Szambecki Team Race hosted by Old Dominion in Norfolk, Virginia, while the Wave women's squad will be back in St. Mary's, Maryland, to race in the SMC Women's Team Race hosted by St. Mary's College.
The Tulane women's team is coming off a first-place finish last weekend in the SMC Women's Fleet Race also hosted by St. Mary's College. The Green Wave placed first in both divisions of the regatta to secure the top finish overall. Meanwhile, the Wave COED team will look to improve upon its 12th-place finish at the Graham Hall Team Race last weekend in Annapolis, Maryland.
The SMC Women's Team Race will feature 12 teams in a cross regional regatta on Saturday and Sunday. Eight of the teams competing, including the Green Wave, finished in the final top 20 Sailing World fall rankings.
The Wave COED crew will compete in the Aaron Szambecki Team Race in the waters of the Elizabeth River on Saturday and Sunday. Tulane will be among 10 teams competing in the regatta with seven of those teams, including the Green Wave, finishing in the final top 20 Sailing World fall rankings.
Following the action this weekend, the Green Wave COED and women's teams will return to New Orleans as the COED squad will host a regatta and the women's team will have a weekend off. The Tulane COED squad will host the Garner-Tullis Team Race on April 2-3 on Lake Pontchartrain.
