Tulane Sailing COED Team Finishes Second in Szambecki Team Race; Women’s Team Lands Sixth at SMC Women’s Team Race

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University sailing COED and women's teams wrapped up competition at a pair of road regattas this weekend. The Green Wave COED crew finished second out of 10 teams at the Aaron Szambecki Team Race in Norfolk, Virginia, while the Wave women's team landed sixth out of 11 teams in the SMC Women's Team Race in St. Mary's, Maryland.
The Tulane COED team ended the Szambecki Team Race hosted by Old Dominion with an 8-1 record on the water. The Green Wave posted a 5-1 mark on the second day of racing in the regatta. With skippers Cameron Giblin, Asher Zittrer and Thad Lettsome leading the way alongside crews Kit Stoll, Brady Starck, Andrea Riefkohl-Gonzalez, Gillian Perrell and Grace Siwicki, Tulane earned wins over Old Dominion, Yale, UC Santa Barbara, Jacksonville and Navy to finish second place in the regatta.
On the waters of the St. Mary's River, the Green Wave women's team finished sixth out of 11 teams in the the SMC Women's Team Race hosted by St. Mary's College. Tulane posted a 6-9 overall record in the regatta after finishing with a 6-4 mark after the first round.
Up next, the Green Wave COED and women's teams will return to New Orleans as the COED squad will host a regatta and the women's team will have a weekend off. The Tulane COED squad will host the Garner-Tullis Team Team Race on April 2-3 on Lake Pontchartrain.
