
Baseball Heads Across Town For a Midweek Game at UNO

NEW ORLEANS- The Tulane University baseball team (16-8-1) is will travel across town to the University of New Orleans (13-9) for a midweek matchup on Wednesday inside Maestri Field.
The showdown is Tulane's final non-conference game of the season and starts a five-game road trip, the second of the season at that length.Â
THE MATCHUP
- First pitch is schedule for 6:30 p.m.
- The matchup can be viewed on ESPN+ and can be heard on WRBH 88.3 FM.
- Tulane bested UNO 7-1 at home in the only meeting between the two clubs in 2021.
HIGHLIGHTING THE WAVE
- Tulane is 5-1 in weekend series, including series wins over Mississippi State and LA Tech.
- Tulane is currently third in NCAA Division I baseball in doubles with 66 through 25 games. The Wave trails Kansas State by two and Tennessee by five doubles.
- The Green Wave hits .270 as a group and has a 4.11 ERA as a pitching staff.
- Freshman Grant Siegel touts a 0.62 ERA accumulated over 29.0 innings of work. The right-hander has the fourth-lowest ERA in the nation.
- Redshirt sophomore Ethan Groff leads the Green Wave in hits (33), runs scored (25), RBIs (17), home runs (3), and doubles (13). Groff is tied for seventh in the nation in two-baggers.
- Freshman outfielder Jackson Linn has a .439 average over 41 at-bats and has an eight-game hitting streak coming out of the weekend and a 10 game reached base streak.
 LAST TIME OUT
- Tulane Picked up the series from Dayton winning the opener 12-1 and the closer 3-2.
- Freshman Michael Massey had a strong outing and got his fourth win of the season. The righty tossed 7.2 innings and struck out six while giving up zero runs. Â
- Redshirt Sophomore Simon Baumgardt collected an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to walk the game off.
SCOUTING THE PRIVATEERS
- UNO is coming off a series loss to Northwestern State in New Orleans last weekend.
- UNO has collected series wins over Kansas, ULM and Oklahoma
- The Privateers pitching staff has a 5.35 ERA and the batters hit .275 as a group.
- Sophomore infielder Amani, Larry leads the club in average (.367), hits (33), and doubles (6).
