
Green Wave Jets to Houston For Weekend Showdown

GAME NOTES
NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University baseball team (23-10-1) is traveling to the University of Houston (21-12) for a three-game set this weekend inside Schroeder Park.Â
Â
The Wave is 5-1 in conference play, sits in first place in the AAC, and has won seven of eight, the club's hottest stretch of the year since it started the season 8-1.

THE MATCHUP
First pitches are schedule for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, 6:30 p.m. on Friday, and 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.Â

The series can be viewed on ESPN+ and can be heard on WRBH 88.3 FM.

Tulane went 4-1 against the Cougars last year, including a 4-1 victory in the AAC Tournament.
Â
Houston leads the all-time series 51-43 over the Green Wave.
HIGHLIGHTING THE WAVE
Tulane is hitting .275 as a group and the pitching staff has a 4.22 ERA while holding opponents to a .250 average.

Freshman outfielder Jackson Linn and sophomore left-handed pitcher Dylan Carmouche (4-1) both played their way to spots on last week's AAC Weekly Honor Roll. Linn is hitting .364, the ninth highest average out of freshmen in the country. Carmouche, Tulane's Saturday starter, is coming off a seven-inning gem against USF. The lefty allowed zero runs and struck out seven Bulls.

Freshman right-hander Grant Siegel (6-0) has led the staff so far and has a 1.29 ERA, the 10th lowest number in the nation and third lowest of all freshmen. Siegel has 46 strikeouts and six walks in 42.0 innings of work.Â

Redshirt sophomore Ethan Groff leads the club in average, hitting at a .404 clip. Groff has the 40th best batting average in NCAA D1 baseball. Groff is also in the top 30 in the nation in runs scored with 39 and doubles with 14.

SCOUTING THE COUGARS
Houston has a .279 average as a team and its pitching staff touts a 4.80 ERA.

The Cougars are 3-3 in conference play, winning a series against Wichita State and dropping a series to Cincinnati last weekend.

The Cougars have four players with five or more home runs and seven players with 15 or more RBIs.

Anthony Tulimero leads Houston in hitting with a .365 average and 46 hits. Junior Brandon Uhse leads the team in runs scored (30), RBIs (29), and doubles (13).

Junior Jaycob Deese (2-2) has been a standout arm for the Cougars so far, posting a 3.30 ERA over 46.1 innings of work. Deese has a one-run shutout against Wichita State and 44 strikeouts under his belt this season.Â

The Green Wave took on UNO at Maestri Field on Tuesday and won 4-2.Â

The Wave mustered just five hits, but the bullpen Stymied the Privateers for the first Tulane victory at UNO in the last seven matchups.
