NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University baseball team (26-15-1; 8-4) is heading to Orlando to take on the University of Central Florida (24-16; 8-4) for a pivotal three-game series this weekend.

The Green Wave and the Knights sit tied atop the AAC with ECU. With half of the conference schedule already played, Tulane will look to secure a massive series win as it starts its stretch run.Â

THE MATCHUP
- First pitch on Friday and Saturday is at 5:00 p.m. and Sunday's finale starts at 12:00 p.m.
- The matchup can be viewed on ESPN+ and heard on WRBH 88.3 FM.
- Tulane leads the all-time series 28-25.
- The Wave took three of four from the Knights last year in GFATS.
HIGHLIGHTING THE WAVE
- The Wave is hitting .275 as a club and the pitching staff has a 4.77 ERA.
- Tulane is 8-4 in the AAC, with series wins against Memphis, USF, and ECU.
- Redshirt sophomore Ethan Groff is hitting .414, the highest average in the AAC by .040 points and the 12th highest mark in NCAA D1 baseball. Groff is in the top five in the AAC of almost every offensive statistic and leads the conference in runs, doubles, total bases, OBP, and OPS.
- The second highest average in the AAC belongs to Tulane's own freshman outfielder Jackson Linn at .374. Linn made the AAC Weekly Honor Roll after collecting six hits, five runs, five RBI, and two home runs last week.
- After missing last weekend's series, freshman hurler Grant Siegel (6-1) is back this weekend. Siegel has a 2.15 ERA over 11 appearances, the second lowest figure in the AAC and 35th in the country. Siegel has 48 strikeouts in 47.0 innings and just eight walks.Â
SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS
- UCF hits .282 as a squad and has a 3.74 staff ERA.
- The Knights are coming off a sweep at Wichita State last weekend and did not play a midweek game.
- Redshirt junior Gephry Pena leads the club with a .346 average, ninth highest in the AAC.
- Sophomore Alex Freeland is the Knights' top RBI-man with 32 and leads the club in home runs with nine.Â
- UCF's top two pitchers, Cameron Staine (1.00 ERA) and Hunter Patteson (1.82 ERA), both left their starts with injuries against ECU two weekends ago and did not go in the Wichita State series. The duo has struck out 85 batters in 65.2 innings this season.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Green Wave dropped a game by a score of 8-1 against South Alabama on Tuesday.
- Â Tulane's only run came from a Bennett Lee RBI single.
