
Volleyball Drops Friday Night Matchup With Kansas City

NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane University volleyball team suffered a 3-0 (21-25, 17-25, 17-25) setback to Kansas City in its second match of the Green Wave Classic on Friday.
Senior Amarachi Osuji led the Green Wave with 11 kills. Senior Kate Van Houten paced Tulane with 24 assists and junior Sophia Ervanian tallied a team-best 20 digs.
Set one opened strong on both sides with an early 4-4 score. Kansas City brought the heat with a seven-point run, opening the score to 11-4. The Green Wave showed resilience squaring off six of the next eight to force a timeout from Kansas City. The Wave battled hard but couldn't dig out of the early hole. The set went final by a score of 25-21.
The Green Wave fell behind early 14-7 in the second set and was unable to get any closer for the remainder of the frame. The Roos never let off the gas to push the game final 25-17.
The third set was a carbon copy of the second. Tulane remained within striking distance of Kansas City through most of set but wasn't able to knot it up and get ahead. The set went final at 25-17.
The Green Wave will be back in action on Saturday afternoon, as it takes on Ohio at 1 p.m. at Avron B. Fogleman Arena inside the. Devlin Fieldhouse.
