Green Wave Welcomes Henderson State for Finial Exhibition Thursday Night

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men's basketball will face Henderson State Thursday night in Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse for its final tune-up before the 2023-24 regular season.

This will be the first meeting between Tulane and the Henderson State Reddies. Henderson State posted a 15-15 record and landed sixth out of 12 teams in the Great American Conference last season.

In the Green Wave's first exhibition game this year Tulane defeated Mississippi College on October 26 behind double-digit scoring efforts by five players. Jaylen Forbes led the Wave with 18 points including three made three-pointers. Collin Holloway followed with 16 points on a perfect 7-for-7 shooting from the floor. Rounding out the top scorers for Tulane were Sion James with 12, Kevin Cross with 11, and Gregg Glenn III with 11.

As a team, Tulane limited Mississippi College to just 18.5 percent shooting from beyond the arc and 36.4 percent overall. The Wave also tallied six blocks led by James with three.

This season, Tulane welcomes back eight letter winners, including three starters in Forbes, Cross, and James. Forbes and Cross earned preseason All-AAC honors with Forbes being a unanimous first team selection and Cross landing on the all-conference second team. Tulane was voted to finish third in the league this season behind Florida Atlantic and Memphis.

Tulane's core of returners will be complimented by a five transfers and pair of freshmen. The newcomers are highlighted by impact transfers Glenn III from Michigan and Kolby King from St. John's.

Last season the Green Wave had its most successful season in the Ron Hunter era. Tulane finished with 12 conference wins, its most since joining the American Athletic Conference, and 12 wins at home, the most since 2013-14. It also marked the first season the Wave tallied 20 victories since the 2012-13 season.
