
Women’s Basketball Falls To Missouri State, 70-60

Springfield, Missouri - Marta Galic led three players in double figures for the Tulane women's basketball team (3-4) with 19 points in a 70-60 loss to Missouri State (3-2) on Friday night on the road at the Great Southern Bank Arena in Springfield, Missouri.
Galic shot 7-for-14 from the field, hit a three plus went 4-for-5 from the free throw line in scoring her season-high 19 points. Hannah Pratt tied her season-high with 17 points to go along with seven rebounds and four assists. Irina Parau tallied 10 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Kyren Whittington recorded six points and three steals. McKenzi Carter chipped in with four points off the bench. Kaylah Rainey led the team with five assists. Amira Mabry totaled two points and six rebounds. Lily Ba had a rebound.
Missouri State were led by Indya Green's 26 points and 13 rebounds. Lacy Stokes had 12 points, five assists and six rebounds.
The game featured three tied scores and one lead change. Tulane shot 40.2 percent from the field (24-for-52), 13.3 percent from three-point range (2-for-15) and 71.4 percent from the free throw line (10-for-14).The Green Wave totaled 31 rebounds, 16 assists, four steals and a block.
Missouri State shot 42.9 percent from the field (24-for-56), 43.8 percent from three-point range (7-for-16) and 75 percent from the free throw line (15-for-20). The Bears also had 32 rebounds, 19 assists, six steals and three blocks.
Missouri State held a sizable advantage in points off turnovers, 18-6, and second chance points, 15-8. Tulane had a strong inside game and outscored the Bears 36-20. Fast break points were nearly even at 8-4 as were the bench points, 8-6, with Missouri State holding a slight edge in both. The Green Wave turned the ball over 17 times and were only able to force nine. Tulane's largest lead came early in the first quarter at 5-0 with 8:47 remaining in the opening stanza. Missouri State had a late run that extended their advantage to 15 points in the fourth quarter with just over six minutes remaining.
Tulane trailed by a pair at the end of the first quarter, 14-12, and were only down seven at the break, 33-26. The third quarter was nearly even, 23-21 as was the fourth quarter, 14-13.
Next, Tulane returns home to take on UNO on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 6 p.m. at Devlin Fieldhouse.
