
Tulane Visits Fordham in First Road Test of the Season Sunday

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men's basketball (5-1) will face its first true road test of the season as it visits Fordham (4-3) for a Sunday in Rose Hill Gym. The Green Wave will look start 6-1 for the second time under head coach Ron Hunter and the first time since the 2019-20 campaign.

The game between the Green Wave and the Rams is set to tipoff at 12 p.m. CT/1 p.m ET on ESPN+. Fans can also listen to the action live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 104.1 The Spot with the Drew Casey or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.

This marks the 4th all-time meeting between the Green Wave and the Rams with Tulane holding a 2-1 advantage. Tulane dropped the latest matchup with Fordham 95-90 last season in New Orleans. The last time the Green Wave defeated the Rams came on November 19, 2017, in Jamaica by a final score of 63-55. This will be the first time the Wave has played at Fordham in the series.

In its last time out, Tulane dominated the second half to defeat Prairie View A&M 98-77 on Nov. 29 and improve to 5-1 on the season. As a team, the Green Wave shot 62.2 percent from the field and tallied 40 points in the paint. The shooting performance marked the highest field goal percentage by Tulane in the Coach Hunter era. The Wave also did damage from the free throw line knocking down 36-of-48. The 36 makes from the charity stripe is the second most in program history behind 38 makes against UNC-Charlotte in 1994. Ten different players scored in the game including five in double figures led by Kevin Cross with 21 points and Collin Holloway with 20.

All five starters are averaging double figures in scoring so far this season for the Green Wave. Cross leads the team with 19.5 points per game to go with a team high 7.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists. Cross is also the only player in the American Athletic Conference to rank in the top 10 in the league in scoring, field goal percentage, rebounding, blocks, and minutes played.

Through November 30, the Green Wave leads the AAC in scoring offense (88.33), field goal percentage (.530), steals (11.00), turnovers forced (17.17), and turnover margin (+5.83). Tulane also ranks in the top 10 nationally in free throws made per game, free throws attempted per game, field goal percentage, and steals.

The Rams enter the matchup with a 4-3 record coming off an 80-52 win over Fairleigh Dickinson at home on Thursday. Two players average double figures for the Rams – Japhet Medor with 13.4 points per game and Joshua Rivera with 10.9 points per contest. Fordham is 3-1 so far at home this season collecting wins over Wagner, Manhattan and FDU inside Rose Hill Gym. The Rams rank in the top 25 nationally in steals per game and have swiped double figure steals in each of its past three games including a season-high 18 on Thursday.

Following the matchup with the Braves, the Green Wave will travel to Atlanta to face Mississippi State in Holiday Hoopsgiving in State Farm Arena. The game between the Green Wave and the Bulldogs will tipoff at 10:30 a.m. CT on SEC Network.
