Tulane Visits Cincinnati for Saturday Showdown

CINCINNATI – Tulane University Women's Basketball (15-11, 5-8) will go for its third consecutive American Athletic Conference victory as it visits Cincinnati (9-16, 2-10) on Saturday afternoon. The matchup between the Green Wave and the Bearcats is set to tipoff at 1 p.m. CT from Fifth Third Arena.

This marks the 39th all-time meeting between Tulane and Cincinnati with the series tied 19-19. Cincinnati won the previous matchup this season 53-50 in New Orleans on February 4. The last time Tulane beat Cincinnati came last season on February 13, 2022, when the Green Wave won 80-56. The Wave holds a 6-9 record on the road against the Bearcats with its last win in Cincinnati coming on January 9, 2021, by a final score of 68-49.

In its last time out, Tulane won its second consecutive game on Wednesday defeating SMU 52-50 at home. The win was also Head Coach Lisa Stockton's 576th victory at Tulane which ties former Louisiana Tech head coach Leon Barmore for the most wins by a women's college basketball coach in the state of Louisiana. Dynah Jones led the Green Wave in scoring in the contest with 19 points to go with four rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Three players are averaging double figures in scoring for the Green Wave this season. Galic leads the team with 12.7 points per contest. Dynah Jones follows with 12.2 points per game while Kyren Whittington posts 11.8 points per contest. Galic is second the AAC and ranks 35th nationally in three-pointers made this season with 64.

Paced by Rachel Hakes who leads the conference in assists per game with 5.0 and total assists with 129, Tulane ranks third as a team in the league in assists per game at 15.3 and assist-to-turnover ratio at 0.96.

Cincinnati enters the matchup with an 9-16 overall record and a 2-10 mark in league play after losing at home to East Carolina 57-68 on Wednesday. The Bearcats lead the conference in blocked shots with 4.68 per game, however Cincinnati ranks eighth in the league in scoring defense (63.2) and last in field goal percentage defense (40.2). Jillian Hayes leads Cincinnati in scoring (12.96), rebounding (8.6), and blocks (1.4). She rates 10th in the conference in scoring, fifth in rebounding, and third in blocked shots.
Following the matchup with the Bearcats, the Green Wave will return home to celebrate Senior Day as it hosts East Carolina on Saturday. Tipoff between Tulane and the Pirates is set for 2 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
