
Green Wave Splits a Pair to Wrap up the March to May

GULF SHORES, Ala. – Tulane University Beach Volleyball finished the March to May with a 1-1 day on Sunday to move its overall record to 11-5 on the season. The Green Wave picked up a victory over Mercer to begin the day before falling to No. 10 Georgia State in its final match of the weekend.
"Proud of our team for battling till the last point this entire weekend against great competition and varying formats and conditions," Head Coach Eyal Zimet said. "We will learn from each match, watch film, and use it as fuel for the second half of our season! Lots to be proud of, ton to work on, and plenty to look forward to."
Tulane claimed the early lead against the Mercer Bears in the first dual of the day as the duo of Abby Jackson and Ashton Mares picked up a win in position four in straight sets, 21-10, 21-13. After Mercer evened the score at 1-1, the top pair for the Wave, Mollie Ebertin and Kendall Peters, put Tulane back in front winning in two sets, 21-14, 21-14. The Bears knotted the score again at 2-2, but the pairing of Sara Hall and Maddie Speicher stepped up for the Green Wave with a two-set victory to secure the 3-2 win for Tulane.

Jackson and Mares got the Green Wave out to the early advantage in the final dual of the weekend against No. 10 Georgia State. The duo battled to win in a three-set match from position four to put Tulane up 1-0 to begin the dual. Unfortunately, the tenth-ranked Panthers picked up the next three points despite all three courts going to a third set. Emily Heintzelman and Samantha Mehlman teamed up for a three-set win on court three to earn one more point for the Wave making the final a 3-2 defeat for Tulane.

Up next, Tulane will be back at home to host New Orleans and Southeastern Louisiana for the Bayou Beach Duals on Thursday. The action will be hosted at White Sands Beach Volleyball Courts beginning at 12:30 p.m.
