
Low-Scoring Affair Goes the Way of the Rainbows

HONOLULU, HI – Tulane and Hawaii dueled for five and a half innings with nary a run scored, but the host Rainbows broke through in the bottom of the sixth to emerge with a 3-1 win Friday evening at Les Murakami Stadium in Honolulu.

The home team improved to 10-8 on the season. Tulane fell to 6-16.

Starting pitcher Harry Gustin (2-1) was magnificent for Hawaii, giving up just one run on one hit with eight strikeouts and one walk. Reliever Connor Harrison received his fourth save, as he got the final four outs with three coming via strikeout.

Tulane starter Dylan Carmouche (0-5) suffered the loss as he went six and one-third innings, allowing three runs on five hits with eight strikeouts and one walk.Â

The Rainbows scored their first run on a Carmouche wild pitch. Hawaii third baseman Kyson Donohue then drove in two runs, both of which came on a double to left field in the sixth.

Green Wave pinch hitter Adam Ebling launched a solo blast to left in the seventh inning for the visitors' lone run. The homer was the first of his career.Â

The two teams will play the second game of the series Saturday evening at 11:35 p.m. CT.
