MOBILE, AL – The Tulane baseball team is in action Tuesday evening at South Alabama (6:30 p.m.) for its final midweek game of the 2023 season.

Tulane enters the contest at 14-34 overall, while the Jaguars are 23-24.

SCOUTING THE JAGUARS
Will Turner leads the team with a .368 batting average, 1.123 OPS, 47 runs scored, 67 hits, 15 doubles, three triples, 47 RBI, 117 total bases and .643 slugging percentage. Joseph Sullivan and Colson Lawrence have hit 11 home runs apiece, with Sullivan's 41 walks, .497 slugging percentage and 17 stolen bases also pacing the team.

On the mound, the team has a 5.87 ERA and allows a .271 batting average against. The Jaguars have struck out 431 batters in 408 innings with 218 walks.

The team is coming off a tough three-game series with Sun Belt Conference foe Southern Miss, who swept the Jaguars in Hattiesburg last weekend.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE GREEN WAVE
Visiting UCF scored all 10 of its runs in the first five innings and kept Tulane's bats mostly quiet as the Knights won the series with a 10-3 victory Sunday afternoon on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.

UCF starter Cameron Leiter (2-2) struck out 11 and worked around six walks in five innings, allowing two runs on two hits. He teamed with relievers Jacob Marlowe and Kris Sosnowski to whiff 16 Tulane batters.

Tulane starter Billy Price (0-2) went three innings in the loss, giving up three runs on three hits with three strikeouts and one walk. The Green Wave used six pitchers, with relievers Michael Fowler and Blake Mahmood finishing strong. The duo yielded just one run through the contest's last four and two-thirds innings with eight strikeouts between them.

Seven home runs were hit between the two teams, with UCF shortstop Drew Faurot belting a two-run shot in the second and a solo homer in the fifth. Center fielder John Rhys Plumlee swatted a two-run bolt to left in the fourth, while right fielder Matt Cedarburg did the same in the fifth.

For Tulane, left fielder Brady Hebert and center fielder Teo Banks crushed back-to-back solo shots in the bottom of the fifth to get the home team on the scoreboard. Jackson Linn added another in the bottom of the ninth for the game's final margin.
