
Tulane Travels for Pair of Northeast Regattas

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane sailing ventures back to the northeast for two separate regattas on Saturday and Sunday, October 5-6. The Green Wave will be represented by one squad at the Open Atlantic Coast Championship Round 1B in St. Mary's City, Maryland, while another crew competes for the Stu Nelson Trophy in New London, Connecticut.
Taking to the waters of the St. Mary's River for the Open ACC Round 1B for the Wave will be Kelly Holthus, Helena English, Christian Ebbin, Sabrina Anderson, Sammie Gardner, Hope Breslin, Ryan Ehnot, and Brady Starck. Tulane will be competing in a field of 18 teams that includes Connecticut College, Cornell, Dartmouth, Eckerd, Florida State, George Washington, Georgetown, Harvard, MIT, Old Dominion, St. Mary's, Coast Guard, UC Santa Barbara, Miami, Rhode Island, Wisconsin, and Webb Institute.
The Wave will be competing on the water in a field of 18 teams in the Women's ACC's Round 1B. Featured in the field with Tulane will be Boston College, Boston University, Bowdoin, Brown, Cornell, Fordham, George Washington, Hobart & William, Maine Maritime, MIT, North Carolina State, Northeastern, Roger Williams, Navy, South Florida, Vermont, and Wisconsin. The Green Wave finished eighth out of 17 teams in the Women's ACC Semifinals last fall.
The regatta will be sailed in two divisions with 18 total races for each division. Racing is scheduled to begin at 8:45 a.m. CT on Saturday and 8:30 a.m. CT on Sunday. The Green Wave finished eighth at the Open ACC Semifinals last fall.
Tulane will be represented by Lucy and Ellie Spearman, Raquel Schulman, Mira Herlihy, Taylor Bartell, Oakley Cunningham, Lola Kohl, CJ Ricci, and Caitlin Briggs at the Stu Nelson Trophy in New London, Connecticut. In addition to the Wave, the 15-team field includes Brown, Connecticut College, George Washington, Maine Maritime, MIT, Northeastern, Princeton, Roger Williams, Stanford, Tufts, Hawaii, Rhode Island, South Florida, and Yale.
The format for the regatta is set for 14 races sailed in two divisions. Racing is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. CT on Saturday and 9 a.m. on Sunday. Last fall Tulane landed in seventh in the race for the Stu Nelson Trophy.
