Tulane Secures First Victory of the Season Over Grambling State

NEW ORLEANS - Tulane women's basketball (1-2, 0-0 AAC) secured its first victory of the season here Saturday afternoon, defeating Grambling State (2-2, 0-0 SWAC) 89-65 in Uptown.
The win marked a milestone for Ashley Langford, earning her first victory as Tulane's head coach.
The Green Wave started strong, shooting an efficient 64.3% from the field in the first quarter and maintaining control throughout the game.
Amira Mabry led the offensive charge, shooting 7-for-7, finishing with a team-high 19 points. Victoria Keenan added 18 points, highlighted by six three-pointers, while Sherese Pittman matched Keenan's scoring output and collected eight rebounds to carry the team in the paint.
Pittman (career-high six) and Keenan (four) had 10 of the team's 15 steals.
The Wave displayed a well-rounded offensive performance, shooting 45.9% (34-74) from the field and 37.0% (10-27) from three-point range.
While Tulane struggled at the free-throw line, converting just 37.9% (11-29) of its attempts, the team dominated in other aspects of the game, including points off turnovers (24) and points in the paint (44).
Next, Tulane will travel to Baton Rouge to face LSU on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 6:00 p.m. CT. The game will be streamed on the SEC Network.
