
Green Wave Goes 1-1 to Begin PCH Open

LOS ANGELES – Tulane University beach volleyball began its West Coast swing with a 1-1 split on the first day of the PCH Open hosted by Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles Saturday. The Green Wave knocked out Colorado Mesa 4-1 to open the weekend of competition before falling 5-0 to 10th-ranked Loyola Marymount.
Tulane squared off against Colorado Mesa for the first time in program history to begin play at the PCH Open on Saturday. Samantha Green and Skylar Ensign helped the Wave jump out to an early advantage by taking the point at four in two sets. Tulane went up 2-0 after Molly Trodd and Sara Hall claimed a two-set win on two. The dual was clinched by Lara Torruella and Tawny Ensign on court four with a two-set victory. The Wave finished with a 4-1 victory after Amelia Mullen and McKenzie Cutler added one more point in two sets from court five.
The Green Wave met its match in the second dual of the day facing the weekend host and 10th-ranked Loyola Marymount Lions. Tulane ultimately dropped the matchup 5-0 against LMU to end the day on Saturday.
Tulane will be back on the sand to finish the PCH Open on Sunday in Los Angeles. The Green Wave will have a rematch against No. 10 Loyola Marymount at 2 p.m. CT followed by a matchup with Pepperdine at 4 p.m. CT.
