
Green Wave Prepared for ICSA Fleet Race Nationals

BOSTON – Tulane University sailing will begin competition in the 2024 ICSA Fleet Race National Championships Monday on the Charles River. The Green Wave will compete in the ICSA Women's Fleet Race Championship from May 20-23 followed by the ICSA Open Fleet Race Championship from May 24-27.

The ICSA Fleet Race Championships will be co-hosted by MIT and Harvard at the MIT Sailing Pavilion and the Harvard Boathouse.

Tulane will be the 14th seed among 36 teams as one of 11 automatic qualifiers in the field for the Women's Fleet Race Championship. The other automatic qualifiers for the regatta include Cornell, Penn, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Brown, Boston College, Stanford, Hawaii, College of Charleston, and North Carolina State. Stanford enters the regatta as the top overall seed.

Racing is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. CT for all four days, Monday through Thursday, of the Women's Championship. Competition will also be streamed live on ESPN+ on the last day of the semifinals on Tuesday, May 21, and the last day of the finals on Thursday, May 23. The live stream will begin at 12 p.m. CT and run through the end of events each of those days.

The Green Wave will also be one of 11 automatic qualifiers competing in the Open Fleet Race Championship. Tulane landed as the 17th seed in a field of 36 that includes other automatic qualifiers Georgetown, St. Mary's College of Maryland, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Harvard, Brown, Stanford, UC Santa Barbara, College of Charleston, and Miami. Harvard ranks as the top seed in the regatta as an automatic qualifier from the NEISA conference.

The semifinals of the open championship will take place on Friday and Saturday, May 24-25, with the finals following on Sunday and Monday, May 26-27. Racing is set to begin at 9 a.m. CT all four days of the regatta. Live streaming will also be available ESPN+ beginning at 12 p.m. CT on Saturday for the conclusion of the semifinals and Monday for the end of the finals.

Last spring Tulane finished ninth in both the ICSA Women's and Open Fleet Race National Championships. The Wave won its last title at the 2022 Open Championship in New Orleans on Lake Pontchartrain.
