Wave Done in by Monstrous ECU Fourth Quarter

GREENVILLE, NC – Host East Carolina scored a combined 53 points in the first and fourth quarters as it registered a 75-64 comeback win over visiting Tulane Saturday afternoon at Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.
The Pirates are now 9-7 overall and 1-3 in the American Athletic Conference. The Green Wave fell to 10-6 and 3-2 in the league.
The fourth period was certainly the decisive stanza as the home team, trailing by five (53-48) through three, outscored the Olive and Blue 27-11, going on an 18-2 run to salt the game away.
ECU got a game-high 21 points (7-for-15 FG, 4-for-7 3FG) from Devin Hagemann, while Jayla Hearp added 15. Amiya Joyner collected a game-high 12 rebounds. Khia Miller had nine assists and four steals.
Tulane's Amira Mabry led the Wave with 15 points. Sherese Pittman (12 points, 11 boards) posted her second double-double of the season. Sadie Shores led the way in assists (five) and Dyllan Hanna, the league's leading shot blocker, posted four rejections.
The Pirates connected on 41 percent from deep (9-for-22) against the AAC's stingiest perimeter defense and held a 22-12 edge on points off turnovers.
Hagemann made a driving layup at the 5:32 mark of the fourth quarter to tie the game at 57-all but held Tulane to just one field goal the rest of the way as it scored 18 of the game's last 25 points.
The Green Wave will be back in action at Wichita State on Wednesday in a 6 p.m. affair. The Shockers (7-11, 1-4) dropped a 69-51 decision at UTSA on Saturday.
