NEW ORLEANS – Tulane's women's basketball team plays host to Florida Atlantic Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. CT inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.Â

The Green Wave comes into the game at 12-7 overall and 5-3 in the American Athletic Conference. The Owls enter at 9-12 and 1-7 in the league.

The game will also be the program's Student Night where FREE Raising Cane's will be made available to Tulane students. There will also be a Tulane-branded Bumpboxx student raffle and a halftime performance by K9s in Flight Frisbee Dogs.

Tulane women's basketball team went on the road Saturday and dug deep with a stout fourth-quarter defensive effort, emerging with a 62-60 win over Temple in Liacouras Center in Philadelphia.

Tulane closed the game with a flourish, connecting on four of its last five shots from the field and limited the home team to a 2-for-10 effort and no points in the game's last two minutes, 32 seconds.

The visitors were led by Amira Mabry's 19 points, while Kendall Sneed contributed 16 and Kyren Whittington added 15. The trio combined to made 21 of their 31 field goal attempts (67.7 percent). Sherese Pittman paced the team on the glass with six rebounds, while Whittington and Victoria Keenan had seven of the squad's eight steals.

Temple was powered by Tarryionn Gary's 23 points, eight rebounds and three steals as she connected on five of nine from 3-point range.Â

The Green Wave did a masterful job on the Owls' leading scorer Tiarra East. The senior from Louisville, Kentucky came into the contest averaging a team-best 14.8 points per game. On Saturday, Tulane allowed her just six points on a 2-for-19 shooting performance from the field and an 0-for-7 clip from downtown.Â

The Olive and Blue led for more than 30 minutes Saturday, but the hosts nosed ahead by two (60-58) on a Gary triple with 2:32 left. Pittman then got a pair of baskets down the stretch for the contest's final margin, but the Owls had a look at the end. After a pair of timeouts (and two Tulane fouls to whittle the clock further), East grabbed an in-bounds pass and fired a game-winning salvo from 27 feet but saw it clatter off the glass and rim, clinching the win for the Green Wave.Â

Tulane shot 52.9 percent (27-for-51) from the field and allowed Temple to make just 32.8 percent (21-for-64).

The Owls actually had a 16-6 edge on offensive rebounds, but Tulane boasted more (10-9) second chance points.

The home team had a big advantage on bench points (19-4), but the visitors did the same on points in the paint (38-20).Â

BLISTERING HOT:Â Tulane made 52.9 percent (27-for-51) of its field goal attempts in the win over Temple, its second highest clip of the season. That figure was only bettered by its 61.3 percent (38-for-62) performance in the 91-71 win over Florida Atlantic on December 29.

WHITTINGTON GETS TO 1500:Â With 10 points in the win over Wichita State, Kyren Whittington landed right on 1,500 career points. She has 1,071 at Tulane and registered 450 during her freshman season at ULM in 2021-22.

FTS AND FOULS: Tulane has made as many or more free throws than the opposition in 12 games this season and has fouled as many or fewer times than its opponents on that same number of occasions (including five of the last six games). Â

KEENAN:Â Victoria Keenan paces the league (and is fourth nationally) with a 47.1 percent clip from the perimeter. She is also 15th in the country with 2.95 3-pointers per contest and 15th with 56 total triples on the year.

GETTING DEFENSIVE:Â Tulane leads the American Athletic Conference in field goal percentage defense (36.5), a figure that is 23rd nationally. Tulane also paces the conference in 3-point percentage defense (27.6) and is 56th nationally in that statistic.

AWARD WINNERS:Â The Green Wave has won the league's Freshman of the Week five times, three by Kendall Sneed (Nov. 25, Dec. 2, Dec. 23, Jan. 27). Sadie Shores (Dec. 30) collected it the other time.Â

Tulane has earned AAC Honorable Mention Player of the Week recognition seven times. Amira Mabry leads the way there with four (Dec. 23, Dec. 30, Jan. 6, Jan. 27), Sherese Pittman twice (Nov. 18, Jan. 13) and Kyren Whittington on November 25.
