Green Wave Returns to the Northeast for Pair of Regattas

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University sailing will make the journey back to New London, Connecticut, to compete in two separate regattas on Saturday and Sunday, October 4-5. The Green Wave will have a coed crew racing in the Open Atlantic Coast Championship Semifinals hosted by the United States Coast Guard Academy while another women's team will compete for the Wave for the Stu Nelson Trophy at Connecticut College.

The Open ACC Semifinals will be held on the waters of the Thames River with 18 total teams competing in the regatta. Featured in the regatta along with Tulane will be. Teams from Boston College, Bowdoin, Brown, College of Charleston, Florida State, Fordham, Hampton, Harvard, Old Dominion, St. Mary's, Tufts, Coast Guard, Navy, UC Santa Barbara, South Florida, Wisconsin, and Webb Institute.

The event will be sailed in two divisions featuring a single round robin of no more than 14 races. Racing at the Open ACC Semifinals is slated to begin at approximately 10 a.m. CT on Saturday and 9 a.m. CT on Sunday.

Competition will also take place on the waters of the Thames River in the race for the Stu Nelson Trophy. The Green Wave will hit the water against teams from Brown, Connecticut College, Dartmouth, George Washington, Harvard, MIT, Northeastern, Princeton, Roger Williams, Rollins, Stanford, Coast Guard, Hawaii, Rhode Island, South Florida, and Yale in the regatta.

The format for the Stu Nelson Trophy will include three divisions racing in a single round robin slated for 14 total races. Competition is scheduled to start by 10 a.m. CT on Saturday and 9 a.m. CT on Sunday.

The Wave enters the weekend coming off two solid performances at the Women's ACC Semifinals and the Danmark Trophy. Tulane finished fourth out of 18 teams at the Women's ACC Semifinals and claimed fifth among 20 teams for the Danmark Trophy.

In the Women's ACC Semifinals, the Green Wave was paced by the duo of Ava Anderson and Ella May Corckran who placed third in their division. Meanwhile, the pairings of Hamilton Barclay with Taylor Bartell and Tate Christopher with Hope Breslin both landed sixth in their respective divisions for Tulane in the Danmark Trophy regatta.
