Tulane Welcomes Samford for Season-Opener Monday Night

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men's basketball will open the 2025-26 campaign against Samford on Monday night, November 3, inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse. The Green Wave enters the matchup against the Bulldogs with a 6-0 record in season-openers under Head Coach Ron Hunter.

The matchup between the Wave and the Bulldogs is set to tipoff at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN+. Fans can also listen to the action live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 106.7 The Ticket with the Voice of the Green Wave Corey Gloor or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.

This marks the ninth all-time regular season meeting between Tulane and Samford with the Green Wave leading the series 6-2. The last time the Wave faced the Bulldogs Tulane lost the contest 73-76 at home on December 1, 1998. The Wave holds a 4-2 record against Samford in Uptown including the program's last victory in the series on November 22, 1991, by a final score of 75-48.

The Green Wave is 18-9 all-time against teams from the Southern Conference including an 11-3 mark at home. The last time Tulane lost at home to a team from the SoCon was the 1998 loss to Samford on December 1 by a score of 73-76.

Tulane outscored Centenary College 56-26 in the second half to win its lone exhibition game this season 95-66 on Tuesday, October 28, in Uptown. Five players finished in double figures for the Green Wave led by Asher Woods with 19 points. Rowan Brumbaugh and KJ Greene followed with 17 and 16 points, respectively, followed by newcomer Josiah Moore with 11 points. Percy Daniels added 10 points to round out the leading performers for the Wave on Tuesday night.

Samford is coming off a 73-74 loss to Alabama A&M in an exhibition game on October 13. Devin Carter led the Wildcats in scoring in the contest with 20 points. The Bulldogs feature a squad with 13 newcomers under first-year head coach Lennie Acuff.

During the 2024-25 campaign Samford finished with a 22- 11 record overall reaching the postseason for the second consecutive season with a bid to the NIT.

Following the matchup against Samford, the Green Wave will host Texas State in Uptown on Saturday, November 8. The showdown between Tulane and the Bobcats is scheduled for 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
