NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane baseball team (14-4) scored three runs in the seventh inning to earn a thrilling 5-2 victory over Xavier (7-12) on Friday, March 14, at home on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.

Jacob Moore struck out a man but also walked three in 0.1 of an inning worked. Michael Lombardi struck out both men he faced in the eighth inning with the bases loaded and had an unblemished ninth to earn his fourth save of the season. The Green Wave's staff struck out 14 Musketeers in the game.
Xavier's Jake Hooker (0-3) was tagged with the loss as he allowed three runs (one earned) in his inning of work on the mound.
Nate Johnson led the offensive attack with his two RBIs plus a hit. Tanner Chun had a hit and an RBI. Jason Wachs had a hit and scored a run. Theo Bryant IV totaled a hit and run. Connor Rasmussen picked up a hit and a run scored. Lombardi walked twice and scored a run as a hitter.
Tulane took the early lead on a Johnson single to plate Wachs in the second inning.
The Musketeers tied the game up on a home run from Hayden Christiansen in the third.
Clay Burdette gave Xavier the 2-1 lead with his fourth inning home run.
The Green Wave tied the score up in the sixth inning on Chun's RBI single to plate Gavin Schulz.
Tulane took the lead back for good in the bottom of seventh on a sacrifice bunt by Matthias Haas that was thrown away. A wild pitch followed to allow pinch runner Bryant with an insurance run and put the score at 4-2. Johnson was then hit by a pitch with the bases load to add another run to tally.
