
Baseball Falls To Lamar 14-4

J.D. Rodriguez (2-2) started and allowed three runs in an inning with two strikeouts. John-Paul Sauer surrendered five runs in 1.1 innings worked with a strikeout. Wes Burton gave up three runs in 1.1 innings worked with three strikeouts. Julius Ejike-Charles had 1.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen with four strikeouts. Henry Shuffler was solid out of the pen with 1.2 scoreless with two strikeouts. Michael Devenney allowed three runs (two earned) in his inning with a strikeout. Jacob Moore finished this one out for Tulane with a scoreless ninth.
Lamar's Luke Krkovski (2-0) was credited with the win after throwing 3.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen with four strikeouts.
Connor Rasmussen led the offense with two hits and an RBI. Michael Lombardi recorded a hit. Andrew McKenna had a hit and an RBI. James Agabedis III had a hit, a run scored and two walks.
The Green Wave were outhit in this one 13-7 and also struck out 14 times.
The Cardinals scored first on the RBI single from Zane Spinn and the two-run base hit from Bryce Grizzaffi in the opening inning.
The Green Wave answered with a run in the first on a McKenna base hit to plate Rasmussen.
Lamar had more two-out damage in the second inning to score a pair of runs on the single from Zak Skinner.
Tulane fought back with two runs in the second inning on a Bryant double and a Rasmussen single.
The Cardinals put four runs up in the third inning on a Tab Tracy single and a three-run inside the park home run from Damian Ruiz to go up 9-4.
Lamar scored two more runs in the fourth inning on the home run from Spinn and an RBI single from Matt Ryan to increase the margin to 11-4.
The Cardinals plated three more runs in eight on Logan Hamm's two-run single and a sacrifice fly from Tracy to make the final score 14-4.
Next, Tulane starts conference play and hosts Wichita State (7-13) for a three-game set starting on Friday at 6:30 p.m. on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
