
Baseball Falls 10-4 in Conference Opener to Wichita State

Luc Fladda (1-2) started and allowed six runs on eight hits in three innings worked. Gavin Smith followed with a run allowed in his two thirds of an inning. Blaise Wilcenski threw 2.2 frames and allowed three runs out of the bullpen. Henry Shuffler had a scoreless outing with 2.2 relief innings with a strikeout.
Wichita State's Grant Adler (2-1) earned the victory after a seven-inning performance where he scattered three hits and three runs while striking out seven. Aaron Arnold allowed one run in his two innings worked with two strikeouts.
Tulane was limited to four hits and four walks in the game. Wichita State totaled 10 runs on 13 hits with five walks.
Connor Rasmussen led the offensive attack for Tulane with a home run, a run scored and two RBIs. Michael Lombardi also hit a home run in the game. Andrew McKenna knocked in a run with a pinch hit double. Jason Wachs walked three times in the game for Tulane.
Wichita State scored first on RBI doubles from Mauricio Millan and Jordan Rogers and a two-run home run from Josh Livingstone in the opening frame.
The Shockers scored two more in the third inning on Livingstone's second home run of the game and a double from Gannon Snyder

Tulane answered with two runs in the third on the home run from Rasmussen.
The Shockers again put the lead at five runs, 7-2, in the top of the fourth on the sacrifice fly from Mauricio Millan.
Michael Lombardi drew Tulane a run closer with his solo home run in the sixth inning.
The Shockers padded three runs to the advantage in the seventh inning on the Lane Haworth single, Ryan Callahan double and Camden Johnson sacrifice fly.
McKenna plated Tulane's last run with his pinch hit double in the eighth inning.
Next, Tulane continues conference play with the second game of the series against Wichita State starting on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
Notables
This was the first time that Tulane has lost the opening game in conference play in the last four years…Connor Rasmussen has now reached base safely in 20 straight games…Tulane has allowed 10 runs or more in five of the team's seven losses…The team's current two game losing streak is tied for the longest of the season for the program (Pepperdine – 2/28 – 3/1/25)…The loss drops Tulane to 17-14 all-time against the Shockers.
