
Baseball Rallies Past Wichita State 8-6

Jackson Linn had the big blow of the night with his grand slam that went far beyond the left field wall. The Green Wave were limited to only four hits in the game but still found a way to put traffic on the bases with five hit batters and four walks. Jason Wachs, Andrew McKenna and Gavin Schulz had the team's other hits. Schulz also had a pair of RBIs plus a run scored and a walk. Matthias Haas returned to the lineup and recorded a run scored and an RBI. Kaikea Harrison drove in and scored a run plus he also walked. Connor Rasmussen scored a run and registered a walk.
Trey Cehajic started and allowed three runs on five hits in three innings with four strikeouts. Will Clements entered and threw 1.2 innings of relief with a strikeout and a run allowed. Tayler Montiel (2-0) earned the win with 2.2 innings of relief in which he allowed two unearned runs with six strikeouts. Michael Lombardi earned his sixth save of the season in going the final 1.2 innings without allowing a hit and registering four strikeouts.
Wichita State scored first as Jaden Gustafson scampered home on a wild pitch in the second inning.
The Shockers added a pair of runs to the advantage in the third inning on the two-run triple from Gustafson.
Tulane exploded for eight runs in the fourth inning on the bases loaded hit by pitch by Haas, a two-run single from Schulz, a hit by pitch by Harrison and the dramatic grand slam from Linn.
Wichita State cut the deficit to four, 8-4, on the solo home run from Josh Livingston in the fifth inning.
The Shockers kept chipping away with two more runs in the sixth inning on a catcher's interference and a pass ball to put the final score at 8-6.
Next, Tulane plays the final game of the conference series against Wichita State starting on Sunday at 1 p.m. on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium. The team then hits the road for the next five games starting with a trip across town to take on UNO on Tuesday, March 25, at 6:30 p.m.

Connor Rasmussen walked and has now reached base in 21 straight games…The six strikeouts from Tayler Montiel were a new career high…Michael Lombardi with six saves this season now has 11 in career and only trails the top 10 at the school by one save…With 15 strikeouts tonight against Wichita, the Tulane pitching staff has reached double figure in strikeouts in 14 of the team's 23 games this season.
