
Baseball Loses 3-0 to South Florida in Series Opener

TAMPA – The Tulane baseball team (17-9, 2-2 AAC) lost a closely contested 3-0 game in the season's first road conference game to South Florida (14-9, 3-1 AAC) on Friday night, March 28, at USF Baseball Stadium.
Luc Fladda (1-3) started and went 5.2 with four strikeouts and three runs allowed for the Green Wave. Blaise Wilcenski threw 2.1 scoreless innings of relief with two strikeouts.
Tulane's offense was limited to two hits and a walk in the game. The first hit came in the fifth by Tanner Chun and the second in the eighth inning by Jackson Linn. Jason Wachs drew a walk for the program in the fourth.
The win was earned by Corey Braun (3-2) as he threw a complete game shutout with six strikeouts and just two hits allowed.
USF scored first with a run on a dropped ball off the right fielder's glove off the bat of Rafael Betancourt to allow Matt Rose to score.
The Bulls added a run to the advantage on the Bradke Lohry base hit in the fourth.
USF added a run in the sixth, 3-0, on the base hit by Lance Trippel.
Next, the team plays the second game of the series against the Bulls starting at 1 p.m. CT.

The game was the first time that Tulane has been shutout this season and the first time since also being unable to score against Memphis last season in a 3-0 (5/4)…Connor Rasmussen saw his 23-game on-base streak stopped…Tulane has now lost two games in a row and also two consecutive games to USF dating back to last season.
