
Baseball Falls 15-6 To Memphis In the Series Finale

Blaise Wilcenski (5-4) started for Tulane and allowed five two-out runs in his only inning of work in the first to take the loss. He surrendered all the damage on four hits. Will Clements was the second man in. He only lasted 0.1 of an inning while allowing three runs. Gavin Smith helped settle the game with 1.1 scoreless. He was followed by J.D. Rodriguez. Rodgriguez surrendered a run in 1.1 innings worked. Jacob Moore was then inserted as the team's fifth pitcher of the game. He allowed five hits, five runs (four earned) with two strikeouts in 1.2 innings out of the bullpen. Julius Ejike-Charles was the sixth pitcher of the afternoon for Tulane. He threw a scoreless 0.1 of an inning. Garrett Payne entered the game to start the seventh. He was the team's seventh pitcher of the game. Payne allowed a run in two innings on the mound with four strikeouts to finish things out for Tulane.
Gavin Schulz and Kaikea Harrison both had a pair of hits. Schulz also scored a run and had an RBI. Jason Wachs had a run, a hit, an RBI and a walk. Connor Rasmussen totaled two hits and an RBI. Matthias Haas had two hits including a double plus an RBI. Theo Bryant IV had a hit, a run scored and an RBI. James Agabedis III scored a pair of runs plus totaled a hit. Nate Johnson drew a walk.
Tulane scored first as Rasmussen's double the opposite way scored Wachs from first.
Memphis wrestled the lead back for good in the bottom of the frame with five runs on Jack Pitt's two on, two-out RBI double followed by a bases loaded double from Jonah Sutton to score three more.
The Tigers added three runs to their lead, 8-1, in the bottom of the second on back-to-back base hits from Seth Cox and Pitts plus a ground out by Michael Politte.
The Green Wave scored a single tally in the third inning, 8-2, on Bryant's double.
The program added a run, 8-3, in the fourth inning on Wachs run scoring single.
Tulane drew two runs closer, 8-5, in the fifth inning on Wachs' chopper to short with the bases loaded that could not be handled. He was followed by a solid base hit to left by Schulz.
Memphis scored three two-out runs in the fifth inning on Justin Fogel's two-run single and a Chase Nixon base hit to go up 11-5.
The Tigers scored three more two-out runs, 14-5, in the sixth inning on Creek Robertson's single and Fogel's base hit.
Tulane made it a 14-6 game in the eighth inning on Haas' double.
The Tigers got the run back, 15-6, in the eighth inning on a Perez' double to make that the final score.
Next, Tulane gets back home and hosts Charlotte (30-20, 14-9 AAC) for the final series of the regular season from May 15-17. The first game is set for Thursday, May 15, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The loss drops Tulane to 76-51 all-time against the Tigers…The loss made Tulane 9-4 in the third game of a weekend series this season…Jason Wachs extended his on-base streak to a career high 19 games with a hit and a walk…He also now has hit in 16 straight games which is both a career high and the high for any Tulane player this season.
